Fully open flower of 'Vienetta'

Fully open flower of 'Vienetta'

Put this one and the other two photos of Vienetta on so you could see all three stages of the flower, which are all beautiful and quite different! Sorry I messed up the order.

Thats a very pretty flower.

Ins't it Cinders? I love this one. I wish it would grow a bit bigger, but the problem it has is its roots are competing for moisture with the Acer that hosts it. Only had one stem of flowers on it this year...perhaps more will come later.

Yes, sometimes we have good warm weather in September to encourage these plants. Lots of mine are putting up a second flush at the moment.

Oh, it needs to be recognised for the beauty that it is, Karen .. like three flowers in one .. fabulous! :o) . . . . .

It is like three for the price of one isn't it?! I love it.

Wow this is gorgeous Karen, going on my favourites too :-)

Me too! My Sieboldii are not exactly flourishing..more like just hanging in there. If you can grow this up in the arctic circle (lol!) I should be able to down here! I love this variety.

Ah yes, but mine don't exactly 'thrive' either Tet. They are always spindly and one of my sieboldii has just totally collapsed with wilt....part of my problem is that my garden is terribly overplanted so the roots are always fighting for moisture...combined with a very variable soil....some parts parched and dry and some boggy all year round! I certainly don't claim to have 'prize' specimens of Clematis, but I would rather have them struggling than not have them at all! :)) Some of my clematis have totally failed this year and some have had a very few blooms....a lot of the ones I see on here are much much healthier and bigger than any of mine...especially the large flowering ones! However, I can say, the Viticellas always seem to do well for me, and a few others are very reliable...like Fukuzono, Princess Diana, Pagoda, Huldine, Niobe (though late). There are always the 'stalwarts' to keep me hooked!

I suppose what I am saying is....the more you have, the more likely it is that some will be a huge success!! :))

Absolutely stunning Karen. I have written down the names of the ones you have suggested above, & will see if I can find one of them when I visit a privately-owned nursery this weekend, as I don't often see clematis in the commercial GCs.

No, they all have the same clematis don't they Dwyllis. I buy most of my clems on line from Taylors, Thorncroft etc.

Blue Angel is always a great success, as is Viola Venosa Violacea, Flammula Triternata Rubromarginata, Pagoda, Huldine, Kermesina and Korean Beauty.
