Not in our own valley, thank goodness, and certainly not this deep anywhere any more, but we were surprised at quite how much there still is only a few miles away. Should all be gone everywhere in another week.

I can tell you now, Fran - it was the right kind of snow (not like you get in the UK) but the wrong kind of depth!

lol, swings and roundaouts .... we get the right depth but the wrong kind! I suppose that the right kind is light and - fluffy is the only word I can think of - trying to think opposite to the gritty grimy sludge we usually get!

I'm afraid that pretty much all the pretty, fluffy white stuff here is now reduced to gritty, grimy chunks of ice now, with the exception of the few untrammelled bits lying on the fields.

a bit deeper and you could have tunnels, get from A to B under the snow and not be bothered by the weathre till it started to thaw!

Well, that's what the cats did - tunnel, otherwise they couldn't get anywhere.

Yup! You did say it was deep! I've only ever experienced it thigh-deep. That is awesome!

Good gracious, that is deep! I think I would have to hibernate if we got all this snow. Last years snow here lasted a month and that was long enough for me.

I was talking to lady today who told me three scary things:-
1. A friend of hers was snowed into her house, and for some inexplicable reason felt that there was something wrong: the flue from her boiler was covered in snow, and her livingroom was slowly filling with carbon-monoxide. Someone had to climb onto the snow-covered roof, three floors up, and knock the snow away from the outlet so that she and her family didn't die.

2. In Cesenatico, near the Adriatic coast, about 100 kilometres from here, the snow was 3 METRES high!!!!!!! (that's about 10'!)

3. round about the 25th of March we are likely to have yet more snow. Bother.
