Humph has matured

Humphs hair is made of Luzula and with the flower heads, I think he is looking fab. Especially with a new sport of the Luzula that I will have to propagate and sort.

I need to widen another border, so he may get a pair of hands too :-)

What a great way to use a rock - I guess it is a rock?
I love it. :)

No, he's a pile of turves I couldn't be bothered to move up to the bonfire site. We covered his face in hypertufa. He's settled in quite well now.

You can also compost turves if you have the patience to wait for them to rot down!! Still, if Humph finally gives up the ghost you might find he's left behind some really lovely compost!!
When we had an allotment, we used to chuck anything & everything into an old water tank we'd got up there, (with holes in the bottom I might add). It was more of a rubbish bin really, then when we gave up the allotment and we were tidying up, we decided we'd better empty the tank of the rubbish & we we found that the manky stuff we had thrown in there was really very good mulching material!!
You never know!!

i have a turf box, about the size of a ton bag. We were trying to build up a bank infront of the bonfire site. But the thought of humping that lot was beyond my desires. Humph won't be giving up the ghost as his head is beautifully knitted together with the plants growing in his 'scalp' and when I widen another border, he will get hands. The bank has since been topped up by edging the borders again.

I'm glad to hear he is fit & well & won't be used for mulching!!! :))

definately not, took me quite a while to build him up and shape him. Besides wouldn't half leave a funny shape in the lawn. :-)

You have such excellent ideas! Where did you get the eyes?

Nice eyebrows!!

The eyes are a bouy we found on the beach, The om cut it in half and a touch of paint later. the eyebrows are some acortus cuttings I took from a clump.
