Absolutely lovely, and such a vibrant colour. I have some tiny seedlings in my greenhouse which I hope are going to turn into this eventually - fingers crossed!

Oh, could have given you one of these, sorry I didn't know you liked them. It's not quite as red as the picture shows.

5 Jun, 2012
Well that would be lovely...not sure they would grow tho..Have planted seeds before and had one single poppy then they didnt come back. Also planted seeds in the front garden along with other wild flowers, but have only gotten french marigolds and big daisies and lupins :( Id love some if you dont mind..try try try again!

a real beauty Sticki, love it...

Hi! Looks like the mystery poppy in my back yard that decided to pop yesterday - perhaps bursting out with patriotic pride :-) No idea what type it is or how it got in my garden but happy to enjoy it. Was surprised at the texture of the petals, quite crinkly, and seems to open and close so providing some entertainment for me :-D
5 Jun, 2012
thanks surreylad,
hello julie, sorry i dont know the name of this poppy, it might have come from seed i was given or collected!! they are surprisingly crinkly when they pop open!

Fantastic photo, Sticky, absolutely perfect :)
5 Jun, 2012

There is one growing outside the hedge on the country line I take to go to work. Single petals, huge single flower - it looks so unusual there, lol. Gets me saying to it - what are you doing here? lol.
Lovely picture Sticki:)

I love those little ones that grow in the fields and along the verges, so pretty
Thanks kasy.

Your trademark :))

it is a bit, daylily!! cant help liking them.

Its a beautiful photo Sticki. It sounds to me like you did a root cutting there. Carol Klein always remarks about how easy it is to do root cuttings on poppies, because when you try to move them you leave a bit of root behind and then lo and behold they pop up again the next year. Did the original plant survive in the place you moved it to?
7 Jun, 2012
thanks PL, i think it did but i think this one is redder than before which im very pleased about
7 Jun, 2012
Good for you Sticki. Have a word with Carol about it when you next see her! lol

I love poppies, and you never know where they are going to appear! My mum gave me seeds from hers last year, I sprinkled some in the borders and they are popping up ALL OVER the garden! I don't really know how!
