It's a rather nice shade of orange!

She is very pretty...I am going back in a minute to see if she is still there.

Thanks everyone... She just sat (?) while I took pictures, I thought she was laying eggs Willi, but there was no sign of any when she had gone.

maybe she was scouting for places to lay eggs but decided against this particular twig

Thanks all...just got an email back from an expert. It is a Sawfly, but impossible to tell which from a photograph.
However as it is on a rose...Info I did not give to the expert Doh! I checked and it is...

I found the experts / enthusiasts Fran. I didn't give them enough info at first...but we now agree this lady is a rose sawfly.
