Clean and Bright

I really fancy these for next year. Are they as invasive as people say?

i wish they would spread more melchi ~ i have one or two but both bought and they havent spread at all.

lovely colour contrast the white and yellow, but i'm not mad on them i'm afraid i've had to dig out too many over the years :-))

Perhaps it depends on their position. I think I'll give it a go!

This is such a perfect example of a beautiful flower, Sticki. Who wouldn't mind it invading the whole garden?
I came across a stall with these on the other day, and really, really wanted to buy one, but the darned stallholder had gone to lunch, and the guy on the next stall refused to take our money, despite our knowing how much it was. We waited and waited, but eventually had to leave without it, and I was SO upset - I've been looking for one for several years now, and seed-sowings have come to nothing. Maybe we'll have to drive the 5 hour round trip again next weekend and see if they're still there!

I like these and had some in the other house garden when we lived down the road. Is there a variety that is compact as we get a lot of wind living up here on the top of a hill.

sorry linda, i dont know! my mum has them growing in her garden which is fairly exposed but i notice they are mainly tucked in near the hedge?

Its a lovely plant and very robust...But i find it has to be kept in check...

is that the white or the pink motinot?

I managed to buy a very pretty deep pink one at B & Q yesterday, Sticki, packed it in my trusty stout plant box and tucked it away in my suitcase with one or two other finds for the flight home. BA baggage handlers have a lot to answer for - when I unpacked them at 1.30 this morning when I got home, the entire box was smashed to pieces and all the plants were absolutely flattened. I'm awake now and about to go and see if I can give any of the the kiss of life. I don't think I'm MEANT to have any of these pretty flowers. :o(

That is horrendous, Gattina! Have you ever read Dirk Bogarde's account of his furniture and effects arriving in France? His china was smashed, and there was fatal damage to some of his paintings - the customs men at his end were so horrified they left without checking the rest of the inventory. And that was Pickford's!

You know, I think I did read that, many, many years ago. It was really my fault - my old suitcase disintegrated under the tender ministrations of Easyjet on the way back to the UK (what DO they do to them?), and I bought the cheapest possible replacement, which offered virtually no protection at all, and the plastic boxes I packed the plants just shattered. I was lucky the replacement teapot didn't suffer the same fate!
Sticki, my Dear, BA couldn't give a rat's bum about a few plants - they have problems enough of their own! Nice idea, though. :o)
