Begonia Semperflorens.

Bought on impulse,to fill a gap where the 'pruned'Choisya was....I used to hate these, but I am quite pleased with them....and the good news is ,that I found a couple of new rooted pieces of the poor old Choisya..so fingers crossed :o)

Glad you like it Paul..I'm going to plant a lot of springtime bulbs..to fill it up a bit :o)

I put some crocus in a month back

Thanks S.lad..I am surprised how my views have changed about these plants..A classic example of 'a woman's privilege to change her mind' ! Lol..

That will be nice,Paul..they look pretty, being one of the first to show..It will be nice to have an excuse to go shopping ! :o)

They look good. Isn't it amazing how our taste on plants change. I have lots in my garden that if asked 2 years ago I would have said ''Never in my garden''.

20 Sep, 2012

I still go to them Paul, for the outing mainly..but like you,buy them from other sources..what kind of music do you like?

20 Sep, 2012

Thanks Scottish..I am definitely having them next year...lots of them! nothing eats them, they don't need dead heading, and stay upright ! Lol...what more could you ask for?

20 Sep, 2012

They are looking at their best at the moment mainly because as you said, 'Nothing eats them!' You can't say that about many plants this year!!!

They look lovely and probably will for a while.

Another plant having a great year, just the sort of colour we need this time of the year, Dont forget to over winter a couple then you can divide them in the Spring mine are all last years plants;0)

21 Sep, 2012

Thank you Chris..they were on sale as a BOGOFF..the main reason I bought them in the first place..:o)

21 Sep, 2012

Thanks Carole..and the tip too..I didn't know they would overwinter..that's great..I will do that ,..with more than a couple! so glad you told me ..I would have thrown them in the compost bin! Will they stay dormant in winter,or could I have a couple as a house plant on a window sill ?

21 Sep, 2012

Sandra I have a couple of as House plants they did very well last year;0)

Beautiful! Wax Begonias are very popular here in San Diego. They bloom all year and tolerate the very hot weather so well!

22 Sep, 2012

Thank you,Delonix..that is good..I've never heard of them called Wax Begonias before, but I can see why.:o)

22 Sep, 2012

Yes, they are commonly called wax begonias here. They're very hardy to heat and sun. They need to be with all the horrible heat we've had the last two months.

22 Sep, 2012

I've just potted a few up to keep inside ...we are forecast a real battering on Monday and Tuesday..so thought it was time...just bought some spring bulbs to plant in that bed :o))

22 Sep, 2012

It sounds like quite a storm.

I can't imagine stormy weather here in San Diego this time of year. We've just been very sunny, dry, hot and humid!

24 Sep, 2012

It has given an amber warning for very strong winds and heavy rain, across most of Britain for the next two days..but it is a bit milder today..very cold yesterday here, but fine ..All my fuchsias in pots are safely tucked away..in the shed, under a patio table ,and in the growhouse..a shame to let them get spoiled,as some are at their best..The Annuals in pots will be finished soon,so they have been left to brace the elements..good news,it will start to get better on Wednesday..:o)

24 Sep, 2012

I've read about former Hurricane Katia hitting much of the UK. That's pretty incredible!

I'm glad we very rarely get affected by tropical storms. Although, there was a hurricane which hit San Diego back in 1858.

24 Sep, 2012

I've slung most of my begonias away, I must remember to put some in pots for the following year....thanks for that info. They have done well this year.

24 Sep, 2012

That's a shame Lindak..I would have done the same ,eventually,if,Carole hadn't mentioned about potting some up..still doing very well, and something else that has stood up to the ravages of today .. There still seems to be plenty of life in them yet :o)

24 Sep, 2012

How are the Choisya cuttings coming along?

19 Nov, 2012

Still surviving,Annie..but much the same size yet..just a tiny bit of growth..I think the haircut sent them into deep shock ! :o)) x

19 Nov, 2012

I took some cuttings of mine before the big chop and two of them have taken. They are very slow growing though :o)

19 Nov, 2012

We will have to see how they progress next year,Annie..let's hope we don't have too bad a winter.I might even put an upturned plantpot over them,if it's bad..They suffered from frost damage last year,so I won't take that chance, with them being so small now...

19 Nov, 2012

That's a good idea :o)

21 Nov, 2012

I do have one occasionally :o) x

21 Nov, 2012

Lol!
