Thanks all - we've christened him Woodrow.
He loves these suet logs - bought a couple more today to keep him going for a few weeks - fingers crossed!!
Sticki - I usually end up with letters missing - there is a little something under my key pad that moves around. Tonight it is the letter N!

Ooh, you had Waxwings Sticki? That means it's going to be a very cold winter, I remember seeing a flock when I was little in Mums garden, beautiful birds!

All the way down in the midlands, i was amazed! it was on my way home [not in my garden sadly] about 6 miles from here, i spotted lots of twitchers! so i stopped to find out more! one of them kindly let me look through the telescope/lens? and there was a flock of about 15 devouring the fruit on a tree [couldnt see which type]

We get a lot of these during the day. Both male and females. Great to be able to get so close. In the spring /early summer they also come in to drink the nectar from our red hot pokers (kniphofia). We were in B&M in Dunfermline and spotted fat balls. 50 in a plastic container for either £5.99 or £6.99 (cr which) but if you bought string bags of them they worked out a lot cheaper. We have snow this morning. Its not going to lie but we might get more later. Its a week early this year.

Lovely to see the woodpecker on your feeder. Not seen a woodpecker for a while. At least he will be fed over the winter by the sounds of it.
