Briliant! Fantastic photo of the Moon, Amy!
We do not have Halloween on the 1st November, as Western Europe. It is slowly coming here, but still, people are more prone to have large pumpkins with candle inside in gardens, then witches, skeletons, zombies etc etc.
This day is All Spirits Day, a day, when we usually visit graves of friends and family members, taking there baskets of fresh flowers (chrysanthemums), there are hundreds of candles lit all over cemeteries, so in that day cemeteries look like starry sky which has fallen on the ground. In each cemetery there is a place with a large cross. It is the place where people can lit candles for those, who are buried far away, or whose graves are unknown.
Halloween I take as a typical example of British black humour :-) Lol. ....and I love your witch :-)
Russian witches have somehow crueler appearance:

Kat I love the idea of lighting candles in the cemeteries to remember loved ones .. we use to only have pumpkins with candles lit inside them it was fun for the children but I'm afraid it's become much more commercialised these days with the American influence it seems that it's all about fancy dress and parties now and how to make money out of it ! I'm going off to have a look at the Russian Witches :o(

this is that famous witches scene, sorry, the previous one was in hell, lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6zsQZd6UM4

That was a very interesting clip, Kat, I shall have to check out the other parts!
Hallowe'en is Samhain, the Celtic-Pagan new year; it's the time of the year when the veil between worlds becomes thinnest, so that one can see "beyond the veil", and those beyond can visit our world, hence ghosts and spirits are more likely at this time of year.
It is/was a time to remmeber those who had gone before, to recall them and in that way, keep them alive - someone said once that no one really dies while someone remembers them.
Modern Hallowe'en, dressing up like monsters, zombies or scifi characters, is more American than British, I think - when I was a kid we had small we had small "rituals" - only one I can remember now is bobbing for apples (no idea why) but I don't remember us dressing up. And trick-or-treating, ie legalised begging, is all-American

I see. Thank you very much for that interesting view, Fran.
Regarding the clip - it is worth to see the whole film on Master and Margerita. It is the latest russian film version of BulgakovĀ“s novel and I guess, it is the best. Refers to some real characters, too.

Thank you for that Fran it's very interesting , Kat I'm off to see your latest clip I thought the last one wasn't to scary .....
2 Nov, 2013
:-) Well, thatĀ“s not a Hitchcock, Amy, lol.

Great combination photo. We have a shop down the road that opened recently that sells candles for spells and all sorts of things like that they even have a besom on the wall....wonder if it belonged to Harry Potter.
4 Dec, 2013
Thanks Linda , I have a feeling you could be right about the ownership of the Besom , I read somewhere that Harry had put his old one up for sale on the magicians ebay site as he had outgrown it .. go and buy it you can pop over here for a cuppa in a jiffy :o)
4 Dec, 2013
They certainly have some odd things for sale in the shop.
The moon was just a sliver of silver tonight and vanished over the horizon quickly. Me on a besom...that would be a laugh Amy, I don't like heights although DUsty could sit on the back but she's a white cat!!!
