That's gorgeous Amy - one of my favourite trees! (I have two Liquidambar which are only 3 ft tall . . . perhaps they don't like clay?!)

Thanks Julia /Carole we are :o)) , Sheila I have another tree behind this one you can just about see it in the photo yo the right the leaves are much darker I wonder if it's because it's in the shade more than this one , I'm glad your baby is doing well Dawn once they get going they start growing quite quickly ... x

Maybe your second tree is the other variety? Apparently there are two . . L. 'worplesdon' which is yellower, and I can't remember the name of the other, lol. Will have a look.

Thanks Sandra / Gee , Sheila they are both Styraciflua and in fact the one behind has changed much redder in colour this last week the one in front gets the sun all day long I suspect that is the difference ....

Right . . . and is your soil acid?? (ours is alkaline . . leaves quite colourful but nothing like yours!)

It's 15 years old Angela it was bought on the birth of our Grandson Ryan he was 15 last week .. there are some suckers round the base of the tree I can see if I could dig a small one up if you are interested Dawn had one she says it's growing well ..

Dawn I met his mum Elaine today to do some christmas shopping and told her Ryans tree was now being named Baby Ryan ,she thought it very funny and is going to tell him :o)) x you might have seen Ryan when he was tiny he was chosen as the face of Tesco for their photography service his face was plastered up in all the stores Lol ...
