As requested,Sarah..this years new foliage,after cutting back hard after flowering,last year..No sign of any flowers,yet,so maybe it's taking a year out,or it might be a lot later this year..Hope this helps you to make a decision..I'm still glad I did it :o)

It looks very happy and Healthy and the foliage in itself is very attractive! You have done a great job with the haircut, have you been practising on Russell lol

Lol,Carole..it's just doing it's own thing,so is Russell's ,but his has had no pruning back :o) I do love this shrub,so flowers or not,it's still nice to look at..x

I cut my Weigela back hard last spring too, and it hasn't flowered this year, even though it has grown back to over 6 ft tall lol :D

They must have put all their energy into growing well for us,Hywel..maybe they will surprise us later,this year? but just wait till next year,they should be wonderful :o)

One of my favourite shrubs. I don't have it any more, but I recently bought a Weigeila with golden foliage called Briant Rubidor. I love the name! But I'll always love W. Florida, it's such a light, bright and pretty plant. :))

Hey bloomer, i am a bit late in logging on..but love the pic. Very nicely shaped compared to my sprawling shrub. I love the leaf colour of these. Thanks for posting pic !

No problem,Sarah..glad you approve..at least you know it will recover ok,if you decide to tackle yours..I think it is recommended to take out one or two at a time,then the rest the following year,but I just went for it all at once..:o)
