Very pretty colour Sheila. I have never grown amaryllis, although, they are so beautiful and showy plants.

That's a beauty to start with. My two favorites, white double-Al Fresco. Red velvet, the amazing dark glowing, almost maroon. I have fun with them and they usually do come back with minimum care. Great photo.

Fantastic blooms Sheila. I got an amaryllis bulb at the end of nov and didnt think it would ever take off, but this week a shoot appeared, i will be well happy if it's anything like yours. It is the same coloir. Do people keep it in its pot indoors for the rest of the year?

Thanks Resi. As I've never had an Amaryllis before, I'm not too sure, but I believe they can be planted out in the garden in the warmer weather.
Btw, hope you're not missing the sunshine of the south of France too much?!

Thanks Sheila, i was going to sink the pot in the garden and just hope to remember bringing it out come autumn to get it going wirh some bulbfeed n fresh compost.
Yes i miss the wintersun very much that was always such a bonus, but not the summer heat and the burning sun, i cldnt work in the garden during the day anyway, just too hot and a skyhigh U.V . I developed a sunallergy the last few years which stopped me being able to breath as my throat swelled up. Being rushed off to hospital was not funny. Give me yorkshire summers anytime.

I guess hot sun doesn't suit everybody, and you made a good choice of county: not only a lovely landscape but my birthplace! (and my brother has retired to Settle . . )

Definitely embraced yorkshire Sheila, we are between the n.yorks moors on the east and the Dales on our west, just minutes from the national park and i love it, it is just so beautiful here. Really gods own country! You being a native lass surely miss it?

That sounds wonderful Resi. I can't say I miss it as the family moved south when I was only 3! but luckily I have been back a few times. Do you still visit SW France sometimes?

Hoping to go across early spring this year in my little camper Sheila and see the mountains and all my old friends again. It will be nice to come back to a yorkshire spring though.
