Do the pink and orange colour go together? Nature obviously thinks so.

It had a very scruffy habit Siris, so it had to go!!

This shrub is huge Angela its could be a blessing in disguise for you not to have it , Sue I think in this case its completely acceptable the leaves are turning red as well making the whole shrub look dramatic ...

Kathy I'll have a look tomorrow to see if there's any baby plants or any rooted bits I can dig up !

I had the native form of spindle in a previous garden where I had a wild flower meadow along with hazel, bird cherry & others. It didn't look as vivid as yours does.

This one has always been a good colour Sue , did you find the wild flower meadow hard to maintain ? we were told by a garden design person its harder than you think as the larger plants take over the smaller ones each year ... we have bought a mixed packet of seed to put in a small area ...

Amy, It was a great success, trouble free & always surprising. It followed on from a large pond at one end (a previous project), I roughly marked out a figure of eight, a metre or so wide to be a walk way, then planted various native shrubs (incl wild rose) & trees, all bird friendly, widely spaced, covered the whole lot with mixed grasses & wild flowers.
It was interesting to see what came up & what the birds brought along too.
We kept the walkway mown & the meadow part was cut twice a year.
The whole area was about 1/8 acre.

Thanks for that Sue we haven't the space to do a pretty pattern ,we took a fruit cage down a few weeks ago approx 20x12 and couldn't decide what to do with the space the idea was that we didn't want to create more work , we will give it a go it leads onto an area with fruit trees so should work well .Thanks !
