So cosy! Fond memories of visiting you in your lovely cottage Janey. X

It was so cold last night that Rufus curled up next to me. He slept most of the night beside me. It's a bit of work keeping the fire going into the wee hours. I'm usually up at least once. Leave it to the kitties and pups to find the warmest spot!

They look so content and warm. It's certainly cold outside at the moment. -1.6 and frosty.

Janey just to say one thing we do miss here is our wood burner , having said that Tony says he doesn't miss the work involved ,we'll see how it goes x

I loved the fireplace.

It may seem strange to you, to have a fireplace in Brazil, but, my house is being built in the mountains, where temperatures drop below Zero centigrade in winter and snow once or twice a year.

My husband opted for an Italian fireplace that is pellet fueled, and can be programmed electronically to light when programmed.
The use of the heat produced in this type of fireplace is 98% and it is much easier to store pellets than firewood.

However, I like a lot more a fireplace like yours, even though the Italian has a viewfinder for the fire.

Sounds great Aleyna!

They use this type of stove over here too, has been used for many years in Sweden Denmark etc....love the idea of switching it on remotely so that when you get home its all warm and cosy!!

Right Dotty, it was what made my husband's mind about it.
I like the sound of the woods sparkling, the smell of smoke and the enchantment of the fire.
So he promissed me to build a firework outside.

Thank you everyone for all the comments....my four legged children have me well trained!

Luckily Lori, this log burner doesn't run the central heating..if feel for you getting up in the night to load yours again...I hope Rufus keeps your spot nice and warm for you...:))

Well I get what's left Sandra..ha ha..have I been slipping sideways again??

I've always thought I would be a cat Dd....best of both worlds, blinking sweetly for food, then as free as a bird!

I know what Tony means Amy, but mines not bad really, firelight era, sticks, and off she goes again...it's balancing that overfill ash pain that can be a bit tricky...:((

Thanks Aleyna....I would have preferred the burner to be inset, it was already installed when we came here, but on saying that, the flue gives off a good amount of heat too...
Yes, I have heard of the type you have, how incredible to press a button and that's it! The type I have do create an awful lot of dust, but it's a very old place here and I empty the wood ash onto the garden too. Also you can use the top for heating a kettle etc if need be.. Yes the smell of the wood especially if your lucky enough to get some fruit wood in the load can be really perfumed..
I like the sound of your mountain home and maybe a fire pit outside...perfect!
