I had this rose when we lived at Willow Cottage Janey and it was beautiful, but only flowers once a year!

A lady I visited some years ago had this growing by the conservatory doors ... wonderful perfume from it.

Did you Rose...you'll be able to tell me how to look after it..:)) Yes, I did think about that, but thought it was worth it, just loved reading about it and hope it settles in well..

I've loved this one forever and its plain pink cousin rosa gallica officinalis. They are an easy height to fit in the border and the colour is gorgeous. I am envious, Janey.

Yes the plain pink cousin Ange is beautiful too, and such a history! Aw, you can.have one too..:)) I must admit it did take a lot of courage to dig out all the dahlias last autumn, but I'm very excited to seeing how these two roses, fare..

It is the same as any other rose Janey, to look after!
Spray it regularly for black spot and give it a rose feed in the spring.
Even though it only flowers once, it is worth it!

I will, I do have one or two roses that are troubled with blackspot. Of course, we need some warmth now to get them moving. So cold and drizzly today..:((

I hope the rose does well for you. There is nothing like the beautiful scent of roses. Its genetics go back a long way.
Regarding your blackspot, if we've had any in the past we spray with a fungal spray in the spring before the leaves really get going, and in the winter clear any leaf debris from underneath the pruned bushes and place some fresh earth around the base. Just a thought.

If you see a leaf with black spot on, I would snip it off and bin it.
