Now let's have five minutes..:))

I was just about to prune this stem off my Echinops when I spied these two ladybirds in the soft downy underside of a leaf. I think they may have been chatting and then decided to have a little snooze..

Lovely to see Ladybirds, especially when they are our native species & not the Harlequin ones from the continent!

It is Balc. There's been quite a few this year too. I haven't seen the Harlequin type here for a couple of years, I must admit. It could be that climate change isn't suiting them too well?

Lovely to see the Ladybirds around, we have loads of their larva on the apple tree.

It is Linda, yes I've seen quite a few larva too. Aren't they strange little creatures? Loads of bees lately too Linda, even a bumble bee nest in my compost bin. I'm pleased they've vacated it now!

Thanks Shirley..:)

We had a lot of Bumblebees earlier in the year, then hardly any and suddenly they are visiting the garden again en masse.

Funny you should say that about the bumble bees, Lindak, as there has been an untick here recently as well! They don't visit the balcony "en masse" but I have been seeing them in 2s & 3s the last week or two, may not sound like much but that's probably more than I've seen all year up to now!

Hi Balcony, the Bumblebees love the Cosmos flowers and the antirhynums. (Sorry if I've spelt that wrong. ) They push themselves inside and come out covered in pollen.

I know Bumblebees love the Cosmos flowers and the Antirrhinums. I've often watched them push themselves inside the Snapdragon flowers! Daisy-like flowers are the favourite type of flowers for them as well as for other pollinating insects.

Great capture Janey. I haven't seen many ladybirds this year.

Thanks Rose, these two tickled me the way they'd snuggled on the soft underside of the leaf..:)
