I have seen many sunsets on GoY which I thought were prettier than this one but I thought the cloud pattern reflecting the setting sun was unusual looking

Skippy,
From my brief sojourns to AZ -- I think the Southwest has the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets. This is what I remember of AZ.
That said. I spent part of my life in New Jersey USA. The chemical pollution induced sunsets there outdid all. Purple, pink, and everything in-between. Never have I seen the equivalent of a New Jersey Sunset.
Yours comes close. Great Picture.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Marguerite, this is taken from my front yard. It was just starting to get dark. The little lantern lights are town lights and the reflection in the lower right of the photo is the roof of our library. I live on a hill overlooking the town. I like the fact that you could still see the blue sky in this picture.

Skippy,
This is my last comment on this photo. My friend Samaya just left to return to AZ. I had a chance to drive her stuff down for her. Despite a grossly underbid just to visit, she decided on Movers!
Crap. This was my hope to get a bit toasted, before the big ice hits up here.
Somewhere south of Tuscon. Arrgh!

Maybe it had to do with the type of weather you were going to run into between here and there....I know you said (somewhere in a blog or post) that the weather where you live is on the drier side. So you do get cold weather? I was going to look you up on a map but never got around to it with all the Thanksgiving festivities and all. Now we're headed toward Christmas.....

Skippy,
We can get VERY cold. -10 F. at the worst in my experience. Most bad winters are in the mid teens F. What she was concerned about were the passes. The weather now is great, but those high mountain passes can get blizzard like conditions and all too soon. I went through one with a U-Haul (rented truck) that lost its lights halfway through a 50-mile mountain stretch. That is a story in itself. Samaya did the right thing. Also the movers are holding her stuff until she finds a place. If I had done it, we would have had to unload to a storage unit.
This works out for her, but not for me. On the way back I could have visited friends in CA. Some friends can be so inconsiderate!

LOL you are funny....I know about those passes. I went through the one between California and oregon in early July one year and it was foggy and snowing. I also went through a pass in Idaho that stopped me for the night. Couldn't see anything ahead of me.

Snohomish through the Cascades has gotten us here late in the season when travelling...going south is far safer seems to me...can take a coastal route too...lovely picture Skippy...amazing colors...! ~Cat

I have been through Snohomish pass but it was many years ago...My son and his family used to live in Puyallup and then moved to Hayden, Idaho. Lots of passes to choose from to get to their place...

Lovely photo. Aren't we lucky to be able to see such wonderful skies, always changing, and colourful too.

Wonderful colours.
Who would have thought so many different shades and patterns in one sunset? Beautiful. :o)
Skippy ~ well done.
