ANy rock pools to investigate Irish. We've been to Ireland on holiday quite a few times. Killarney, Kerry Galway Bay, and done the Antrim coastline. I love Ireland and all it has to offer, but I did think the last time we went that they are doing too much building and roads. Never got to see the book of Kells. Did see the Molly Mallone statue.

this has to be one of the best beach's for rock pools Linda, loads of them.
still a lot of building work going on over here even tho its slowed down a wee bit. new motorway going in near me so when its finished i will have to pay a toll to get to my sisters house lol

I suppose the bill for the road buidling has to be paid for somehow Irish so a toll is one of the ways of claiming it back. Perhaps if they taxed road mileage for the car users people would be less reliant on their cars and walk or use the local transport. Cars could be fitted with special meters that got picked up by sattelite and read, I suppose in the future they will be picked up for speeding that way too. I'm only dreaming Irish just my thoughts.....the government seem to slap a tax on most things now and with the country being in such a state with the banks they will have to get the money back somehow. Happy days.....back to the beach with all it's splendour and calmness and the lapping waves, with rockpools for exploring to find hidden treasures..........

lol yep Linda , back to the beach and happy thoughts.
ill just use the old back rds to get to my sister, i find the motorways boring anyway, prefer the old routes thru villages

ahhh taxes...come to Canada ladies, and learn what it is to be a tax slave. I love this photo, Irish. the colours are wonderful can almost smell the salt breeze!
22 Apr, 2009
thanks Lori.
we could have a competition to see who pays the most taxes lol
22 Apr, 2009
I think we'd (Canadians) win hands down...taking our total tax paying population into account, Remember the Beatle song "Tax Man"??? seems like there isn't anything we can't be taxed on...they've started taxing fast food!
23 Apr, 2009
is all your food not taxed Lori.....ours is lol.
im waiting for them to bring in a yawning tax next
23 Apr, 2009
Holy Smoke, Irish....even food you buy to prepare yourself? They have done some sleight of hand recently with hidden taxes....and combining provincial taxes with federal taxes...and it's a bit confusing...but there was certain merchandise and services which were exempt ...now they're drawing the purse strings tighter and taxing things they never taxed before ...all in the name of "recession" or "depression" or whatever scare tactic they're using now! The reason Canadian banks are in such good shape is because they run the country and have a charter to steal!

its in a right mess over here Lori, most folk now drive up to Northern Ireland to do their shopping as prices are way cheaper even with the exchange rate from euro to sterling
23 Apr, 2009
I agree Irish. I noticed a great difference in my Euro spending power when I visited UK recently - I could have done some serious retail therapy .....
23 Apr, 2009
oh to win the lotto lol, actually memo to myself to do the euro millions tomorrow , its 70 million, what a ridiculous amount of money
23 Apr, 2009
i love the sea
24 Apr, 2009
me too Raquel, even in bad weather its brilliant
25 Apr, 2009
I wouldn't know who to trust if I won that amount of money,,,, you're right, it does seem a bit ridiculous... unless one could buy a view like that with it!! I think I'd buy up some of the farmland that is being built on at a terrific rate and endow a trust to keep it just as it is for the next couple of centuries!

I agree with you Irish and Lori - it makes you wonder who allows those in "charge" to do such dramatic damage to our heritage. I remember we had a gorgeous black and white Tudor building at the top of our street in Cheshire that had been converted into a pub. It was in excellent condition and well loved by all the locals - but "they" decided that it was imperative for the town's "progress" to knock it down and build a wider road in its place - no number of petitions were enough to stop them doing it - - absolutely criminal and then we wonder where history is going ...
27 Apr, 2009
Sad but true, Terry...my guess is that there are many more smaller villages and hamlets that have been subsumed... A giant slurping sound is heard throughout the land...and all that was unique and lovely and worthy goes the way of everything else in the name of progress! They would have us believe that "we" are responsible because as voters we have a say! that is such a big lie it makes my blood boil...I gather the euro transition isn't going so well in the UK? small wonder...you've fought battles and whole wars to keep from being swallowed by europe...and now look what you have!
