Thanks Sanbaz, and yes Gee, it has a very delicate scent, and I would love to know which one it is. This one is very old, at least 43 years, and is beginning to show its age. Thanks Norfolk, and sorry to hear that the dolcite tones havent reached your ears yet Sewingkilla he he he

Hi Milky - my parents are both serious rose growers / breeders - have about 300no - I'll save on my favourites & ask them sometime. I have seen before but can't remember it's name. What height is it ? Is it a florabunda or HBT ?

Lovely rose though

Looks like 'Tropical Skies' Milky?

8 Nov, 2009

Thanks Cottageg.....It was very tall, but has obviously been seriously cut back before I was here, so not sure of the type it was, I have cut it well back again which is making it bloom more.........Thanks Drc, it will be nice if Cottageg comes up with the same name......I would love to know for sure.......

Hi Milky - mum & dad are here just now - we're just trying to identify your rose. It's definately not "Tropical Skies" (as it's more of a pinky coloured rose). Can you give us any more info on ........ what size of flowers are they & are there multiple flowers or single heads? What height did it grow to this year?

29 Nov, 2009

Milky - found a few similar but at the moment none seem a definate. Hardest thing is that you say your rose is as least 43 years old so it will not be any modern breed. We've got the rose book out of breeds from the 60's - Piccadilly looks the most similar so far. When you took this picture had the bloom opened up to this shape after a few days or is this the way it blooms when it comes into flower (ie a full open bloom)?

29 Nov, 2009

Hi Cottageg. The bloom actually took a couple of days to open fully to this...You are a sweetheart to go to this much trouble for me.....I would love to know which it is......

Milky - that's what dad thought - usually it would be a tighter head. Are you able to give me any answers to the other questions above please Milky ? would mean the difference in telling if it's a climber, HBT or florabunda. The picture shows it as being quite red rather than a pinky - was that the case? There are so many roses all similar, it's just trying to define it's age, petal shape & colour to one in particular and given it's age it's not likely to be on the market anymore. Does look fantasic for it's age though ! Dad's left me with all the books on "old rose breeds" from 40 - 50 years ago, so will keep looking.

Cottageg....It is not a climber, but nor sure if its a HBT or florabunda....the rootstock just above the ground in so knarled with age that I just cant tell. It is a definate red and not pink.

Single headed blooms or multiple on the same stem ?

30 Nov, 2009

Single headed

Sorry Milky - got delayed on this one but finally back to trying to identify your rose. The nearest I can find is still Piccadilly & the dates would tie up.

Year of UK Introduction: 1960
Description - Type : Large Flowered or HT spiral bud form
Flower Colour: medium yellow, medium red
