If I plant a honeysuckle either side of a wrought iron standard size arch, will I be able to control them, when they can grow to a great height given the chance?

That's a bit rash Mick, I havnt even got the arch yet, just an idea so far. I love honeysuckle, the scent on a summer evening is worth the work.

The like Terra said some are easier than others, good old fashioned woodbine is a thug really but lovely perfume
We've a more gentle natured lemon and cream one climbing an arch to meet a yellow rose but sadly no names for either

if you chose less vigorous ones then they will be fine. prune as and when needed.
I adore honeysuckle and I assume Mick1940 your comment was tongue in cheek if not very helpful.

You'll need to prune them assiduously to keep them under control. A neighbour has an arch covered in honeysuckle and it is totally out of hand as she does not prune at all.
