I have tried slug/snail copper tape it will stick to most things this stuff does work I tried some around some empty tubs to experiment with the trails went as far as the tape and then to back to the ground.

I have copper collars on the ground around my hostas and - so far - they are slug and snail free and unchewed. This has worked for about 4 years now.

jars with a little beer in them buried to nearly floor level works to though prevention is better than cure.
