these strange plants have appeard in my garden. i have an idea where they came from but not what they are.

wagger is spot on. they grow from small corms that have probably been growing from seed for a couple of years and this will be the first year they were big enough to flower. they also come in pink and white too. they are gorgeous. lucky you.

Hi Scousemoor, Your anenome blanda will increase. To begin with they have an underground tuber about the size of a broad bean. The tuber a year or two from now could be about the size of a tangerine. This happened to mine. The flowering potential of the tuber will thus increase also. Expect better things to come. Look after it. Nice plant.
