The RAIN is here at last ! :o)))

As always Terra a beautiful blog and fantastic photos, conker and the gang have certainly been busy, sky is very dark here and just had rain, well at least 30 seconds of spit,

Lovely blog TT....your doggies are having a busy time with all the watering... : O ) we had a tiny bit of rain last night but not enough to even wet the ground....lets hope it rains at night and then we can have sunny days......

yes the clouds are here but i think we only had 20 drops ~ not sure if there will be more!

your plants and garden look so fresh and healthy. i particularly like that heucherella.

Who needs rain with Conker and Truffle about lol everything in your garden looksbeautiful and healthy;) The cluds have rolled in here and its just staring to rain now Yippee no watering tonight ;0))

Can you believe we're happy about rain in UK! But it is so much needed now - I almost cheered with it pelted down for 2 minutes today - rest of the day warm and cloudy - lovely pictures - very nice of Hywel. The Ceanothus maybe Ceanothus griseus - I love them :):)

the headline on one of the papers today was that britain would be sizzling for the next month??!

All bedding plants lifted from the greenhouse, watering cans away because its RAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. (south Cheshire) and what a difference 2 hours rain makes.

We've had about six drops! Even my OH likes to see Conker and Truffle's latest antics, it's the only bit of GOY he's interested in!

Fantastic blog as usual TT. Went out this morning to check on plants and wondered whether to put my washing out. Sky looked quite dark, but pegged washing out as it was really blowing. Thought I'd water plants on my return from corner shop. By the time I came back it started to drizzle a bit, ran to get the washing back in, and believe it or not, it had almost dried, so they had blown well. The rain then came and it has rained persistently all day. :o))

lol...so the breaking news today is....It's raining in Wales!!!! :))))) ....sorry, cheeky and sarcastic don't work very well online do they! ;)

Gorgeous photo`s as usual Terra, wish your boys would come and train mine I have enough cans to go round, I have that Ceonothus its full of flowers.
Had to refill my waterbutts this morning, saves walking so far as tap is at front of house and long way to cart heavy cans to greenhouses, then it drizzled for approx 1min ,lol, guess my rinsing water will still be saved for my poor grass, one good thing the lawnmower won`t be coming out for a few days so thats one less job......

That's good rain news for those in the west ...

We had light rain this afternoon which was welcome but not nearly enough. It has stopped now :-( but we might get some more tonight.

that's a great blog terra and some great photo's, i've had my kids helping me to water... mostly they water themselves for the fun of it.... no clouds here only sun........ someone do a rain dance :-))

This weekend, most parts of the UK are due to get some rain... your kids will need their umbrellas while they do the watering.... Lol.. ;o)

We have had a few odd spots here and there today, then at about 4pm it started to rain not heavy but its not stopped and i can at last here water running in my waterbutts, lovely blog and photos as always xx

I have just heard its staying dry and very warm up to 28 degrees. It has not rained here for over 8 weeks

May be down south but up north here it does'nt get to 28, and we get alot more rain normally than most places.

Smashing blog again Terra, lovely, lovely photos too. The boys must be tired out with all that watering! I have Tapestry and Arthur Bell and they are both doing well also. :o))

Good to know your Tapestry and Arthur Bell have survived the drought ! Conker and Truffle are not used to so much use of their watering cans so very early in the year !!! ;o)

Your garden is looking extremely fresh with all those lovely plants, especially like the Ajugas and that Tobira looks very sturdy.
Have just planted a ceanothus hope it looks as good as yours by next year.
Was very badly let down by the rain I think we had all of 1mins worth, lets hope it does its stuff tonight.
Bet Truffles and Conker are taking a well deserved rest after all their hard work.

we had some rain at teatime..nice and steady for about an hour,so all plants were taken out of growhouse pronto.!four hours later,and it is just a bit drizzly..thank goodness,no watering tonight..:o)

It's all looking very green and healthy Terra, your little helpers are doing a grand job. Dry as dust here and severe forest fires too which has made it very smokey too. A good downpour would certainly help the 150 firemen in their ongoing battle. It would also be lovely to have a rest from watering :o(

... such a worry for the local residents, the fire-fighters, and the flora and fauna ... Let's hope for lots of rain to ease such a sad situation ...

Yes Terra, so very sad about all the woodland creatures and devastation. The fire is very close by with major road closures and disruption but at least WE are alive and safe in our homes......

we only got the 20 drops of rain ~ i had to water the garden! but google says we have rain sunday, hail monday and heavy rain tuesday??

Another lovely blog Terratoonie the boy's have been busy to keep it all looking so nice and fresh, love the white Dicentra. I watered my garden this morning and there was a light shower this afternoon but it did not do much so unless there is any rain through the night I will be watering again in the morning :-)

We had some brief rain showers last night but it's not rained at all throughout the day today...cloudy and overcast now though...so live in hope. More importantly I hope the places with fires that are stubborn and not being extinguished will see the heavens open...the firefighters must be getting so weary after so many days!

The Dicentra is very pretty....I don't ever recall seeing one before...you've got everything thriving despite the lack of rain.

Great blog TT, your canine friends must be the best in the world for doing many good little jobs around the garden etc. It's drier than 1976 here which started in early April and ended in early September, it rained 21 times between those months. The rainfall here in Surrey has been January 76ml. just over 3 inches. Feb. 26ml. just over 1 inch. March 25ml. just over 1 inch and April 6ml. just under quarter of an inch.
I am praying every day for rain, the opposite of Sylvia who doesn't want it to rain, just hope I get my prayers answered.

Pam, lucky you, I did a piece on not having heard the Cuckoo for years some time ago. I still haven't heard it, really miss it.

my part of surry doctorbob has been jan 86ml, feb 55ml, march 17ml, april 3ml, may so far nil... and today my back garden reached 28.5 degrees not a cloud in sight :-(

That's interesting Surreylad, I always enjoy seeing other rainfall numbers, we had our first May frost on Wednesday morning, nothing escaped, I think on the local allotments it will be small potatoes again this year. Yes I am back, been away far too long. Missed so much and this blog and pictures TT - has proved that I must visit GOY again from now on. Down here in good old Dorset had a few spots of rain around 6pm today but we need a lot more - tons more, that wasn't even a taster. Could have done with some help from your 4-legged friends with my watering. Must just mention the colour of the Lady in red is absolutely wonderful.

Great blog Terra! It's rained here since yesterday off and on - heavily during the night and the same again about 9pm tonight! Garden has been well and truly watered!

rain.... rain.... rain.... from 4.00am---- still raining now ---lovely soft rain that you can hear soaking in the ground.... very happy--- as long as it knows when to stop! ( never satisfied !!)

I've just been out in my gardens, emptying my waterbutts' rainwater into other containers... so the next rainfall can refill the butts again ... can't waste a drop... there could be more weeks of drought ahead ...

That first picture is fantastic, if ever I wanted to follow a path..it would be this one. Great pics once again Terra. We have at last had rain, most of the night and this morning. Everything looks and smells wonderful! :-))

Good photos there Terra.. the raindrops on the leaves mikes them look even prettier! Rained all night here, very very heavy, running down the windows! Hazy sunshine now with quite a strong breeze! Like BA says smells lovely, and is starting to look lush!

I'm so pleased to read of the gardens being refreshed by the rain .. we waited a long time ... :o)

And so say all of us! TT. I'm off out now, to fill up the bird feeders!

We only had a shower overnight,and this afternoon it looked as though it was really going to be heavy..20 minutes at the most,and just steady...and only wet the surface..I looked in the butts..about an inch ! Very calm warm day though,so got lots done..Hope the forecast is right for tonight ..

Sorry Terra, no help whatsoever as regards Ceanothus, I had mine years ago before I started taking notes, lol, theres a pic on my latest blog, I had a huge shrub one in the front garden and sad to say that one died in the winter and it was also well established...
Pleased to say its raining again, has been for a couple of hours 12-15am, I`m like you and also have overflow bins, old dustbins no longer needed since using wheeliebins, hubby thinks I`m mad but then he`s not a gardener, lol.....

hurray \0/\0/\0/ ...the 'blob' landed about 8.00pm and was still raining steadily at 10.30 when I went to bed... everywhere looks suddenly green !

We've had some rain, Hywel ...
... not sure how deep it has gone into the soil ...

... but, as with Lincs, I've now transferred rainwater to my old dustbins etc., so butts are emptied waiting for the next downpour ...

That's sad about your Ceanothus, Arlene .. over the cold winter, lots of leaves turned brown on several of my Ceanothus shrubs, but thankfully, all survived ...

Terra I`ve got my RHS big book out and I think by studying the leaf formation , arching habit and shade of blue the nearest I can tell mine is possibly Ceanothus Cascade...
Weather update, rain continued all night,I`ve been planting out all morning and pleased to say that this time the rain has penetrated, best conditions for that job in my opinion, good job as its now warm and windy, mainly cloudy here so at least the ground isn`t getting baked today........

It's getting darker by the minute here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some rain.
We still haven't really had a good soaking here.
Even the two little bits we had over the weekend weren't really 'wet'.
Now I'm in two minds as to weather (he he) to water the garden when I get in from work.
Although I wouldn't be at all surprised if the rain waits until the minute I leave work and then pours down!!!
