As always Terra a beautiful blog and fantastic photos, conker and the gang have certainly been busy, sky is very dark here and just had rain, well at least 30 seconds of spit,

Lovely blog TT....your doggies are having a busy time with all the watering... : O ) we had a tiny bit of rain last night but not enough to even wet the ground....lets hope it rains at night and then we can have sunny days......

5 May, 2011

5 May, 2011

Can you believe we're happy about rain in UK! But it is so much needed now - I almost cheered with it pelted down for 2 minutes today - rest of the day warm and cloudy - lovely pictures - very nice of Hywel. The Ceanothus maybe Ceanothus griseus - I love them :):)

5 May, 2011

the headline on one of the papers today was that britain would be sizzling for the next month??!

the question tonight is:
to water or not to water?

5 May, 2011

Lovely blog and garden as usual, it was very very grey this morning, thought it was going to rain, not a drop!

5 May, 2011

5 May, 2011

All bedding plants lifted from the greenhouse, watering cans away because its RAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. (south Cheshire) and what a difference 2 hours rain makes.

Beautiful garden Terratoonie and everything looking really healthy :-))))))

5 May, 2011

We've had about six drops! Even my OH likes to see Conker and Truffle's latest antics, it's the only bit of GOY he's interested in!

5 May, 2011

Fantastic blog as usual TT. Went out this morning to check on plants and wondered whether to put my washing out. Sky looked quite dark, but pegged washing out as it was really blowing. Thought I'd water plants on my return from corner shop. By the time I came back it started to drizzle a bit, ran to get the washing back in, and believe it or not, it had almost dried, so they had blown well. The rain then came and it has rained persistently all day. :o))

5 May, 2011

lol...so the breaking news today is....It's raining in Wales!!!! :))))) ....sorry, cheeky and sarcastic don't work very well online do they! ;)

5 May, 2011

Gorgeous photo`s as usual Terra, wish your boys would come and train mine I have enough cans to go round, I have that Ceonothus its full of flowers.
Had to refill my waterbutts this morning, saves walking so far as tap is at front of house and long way to cart heavy cans to greenhouses, then it drizzled for approx 1min ,lol, guess my rinsing water will still be saved for my poor grass, one good thing the lawnmower won`t be coming out for a few days so thats one less job......

5 May, 2011

That's good rain news for those in the west ...
seems the clouds are moving Eastwards ...

Lincs .. can you confirm the Ceanothus name please ?
Is it Griseus which Paul suggests ?

Crocus the budgie trains my dogs ..
he is willing to send you a few hints/tweets ;o)

5 May, 2011

We had light rain this afternoon which was welcome but not nearly enough. It has stopped now :-( but we might get some more tonight.

5 May, 2011

Hi Surreylad...
This weekend, most parts of the UK are due to get some rain... your kids will need their umbrellas while they do the watering.... Lol.. ;o)

5 May, 2011

We have had a few odd spots here and there today, then at about 4pm it started to rain not heavy but its not stopped and i can at last here water running in my waterbutts, lovely blog and photos as always xx

:o) xxx

5 May, 2011

Hi, just hope the rain remembers to stop as usually in Blackpool when it rains it does'nt know when to stop.xx

5 May, 2011

I have just heard its staying dry and very warm up to 28 degrees. It has not rained here for over 8 weeks

5 May, 2011

May be down south but up north here it does'nt get to 28, and we get alot more rain normally than most places.

5 May, 2011

Smashing blog again Terra, lovely, lovely photos too. The boys must be tired out with all that watering! I have Tapestry and Arthur Bell and they are both doing well also. :o))

5 May, 2011

Hi Sandra ... Thanks ...
Good to know your Tapestry and Arthur Bell have survived the drought ! Conker and Truffle are not used to so much use of their watering cans so very early in the year !!! ;o)

5 May, 2011

Some stunning plants TT. Really like the Frances Rivis and Heucherella tapestry but they're all stunning.

As always, your blogs are colourful and pet-friendly:0))

5 May, 2011

Hi Oddbillie ... thank you ...
Pet-friendly blogs..Lol. I like that ;o)

5 May, 2011

Your garden is looking extremely fresh with all those lovely plants, especially like the Ajugas and that Tobira looks very sturdy.
Have just planted a ceanothus hope it looks as good as yours by next year.
Was very badly let down by the rain I think we had all of 1mins worth, lets hope it does its stuff tonight.
Bet Truffles and Conker are taking a well deserved rest after all their hard work.
A much enjoyed blog TT, thanks.

5 May, 2011

Lovely blog as always,Terra, and the boys look great!
we had some rain at teatime..nice and steady for about an hour,so all plants were taken out of growhouse pronto.!four hours later, and it is just a bit drizzly..thank goodness,no watering tonight..:o)

5 May, 2011

Your gardens look nice and green despite a lack of rain TT. Well done to Conker and Truffle for keeping up the watering :o))

I'm pleased the Dicentra has settled in and is doing well.

We had a few light showers today but not enough to water the garden. I hope you get some rain soon. The dogs need a day off :o)

5 May, 2011

Blog's lovely as usual TT, the chaps have done a sterling job with the watering! Garden is still looking yummy!

5 May, 2011

Lucky you, Bloomer ... teatime rain ... Lol.

Thanks Hywel ... you're right about a day off ...
... Conker and Truffle need a rest from the watering can routines ... as does my right wrist ! :o(

The dicentra really likes the place I've chosen for it...
Thanks again for sending it. :o) xxx

5 May, 2011

Hi Libet ... Thank you ..
I guess you've had more rain in your part of the world ...

5 May, 2011

great pics Terra ...we have had the rain most of the day im glad to say..

5 May, 2011

It's all looking very green and healthy Terra, your little helpers are doing a grand job. Dry as dust here and severe forest fires too which has made it very smokey too. A good downpour would certainly help the 150 firemen in their ongoing battle. It would also be lovely to have a rest from watering :o(

5 May, 2011

Hi Sandra ...
Glad to read you've had rain ...
such a lot to water at Corseside !

5 May, 2011

Hello Lily... Thanks ..
I couldn't manage my gardens without my willing canine helpers ;o)
I've been watching the fires on the TV news ...
... such a worry for the local residents, the fire-fighters, and the flora and fauna ... Let's hope for lots of rain to ease such a sad situation ...

5 May, 2011

Yes Terra, so very sad about all the woodland creatures and devastation. The fire is very close by with major road closures and disruption but at least WE are alive and safe in our homes......

5 May, 2011

we only got the 20 drops of rain ~ i had to water the garden! but google says we have rain sunday, hail monday and heavy rain tuesday??

5 May, 2011

Another lovely blog Terratoonie the boy's have been busy to keep it all looking so nice and fresh, love the white Dicentra. I watered my garden this morning and there was a light shower this afternoon but it did not do much so unless there is any rain through the night I will be watering again in the morning :-)

5 May, 2011

lovely blog terratoonie, love that heucherella, must look for that one!

5 May, 2011

Thanks Mavis and Daylily ...
Glad you like the Dicentra and Heucherella ...
I hope you get the rain you need for your gardens.

6 May, 2011

I always look out for your Blogs Terratooniel.
As usual you do not disappoint!!

Loving your willing canine helpers.
I'm still waiting for the colour to really start appearing in my garden so it's aways a joy to see yours.

Still waiting for rain here in Surrey - I blinked yesterday and missed the rain (about 2mins worth!).

Hoping there is rain for Lily2.

6 May, 2011

Hi Gill... thanks...
Let's hope everyone gets the rain they need for their gardens... looks as though most parts of the UK should get some rainfall this weekend....

6 May, 2011

Lovely pics TT, the Heucherella tapestry is gorgeous. Still no rain here yet, I seem to be spending most evenings out with my watering can.

6 May, 2011

Thanks, Ann ...
Rain is heading your way ...
... the internet says so... Lol...

... but meanwhile would you like to borrow Truffle and his little red watering can .. he's good at watering lawns ;o)

6 May, 2011

Send him over!

6 May, 2011

On his way ...
... please have the Bonios ready ;o)

6 May, 2011

promised storms in the night-- hope the're late I have to get up at 6.00!

6 May, 2011

bbc weather says rain at 1 in the morning round here pam ~ appears to be finished by 4

6 May, 2011

Shake the cobwebs off your umbrellas ;o)

6 May, 2011

We had some brief rain showers last night but it's not rained at all throughout the day today...cloudy and overcast now though...so live in hope. More importantly I hope the places with fires that are stubborn and not being extinguished will see the heavens open...the firefighters must be getting so weary after so many days!

Terra...everything is looking spectacular in your garden. I am so glad you've got your helpers trained up so well... they are doing a very good job for you :)

The Dicentra is very pretty....I don't ever recall seeing one before...you've got everything thriving despite the lack of rain.

6 May, 2011

quick change of subject-- been listening to the cuckoo all day-- first for a number of years.....

6 May, 2011

Thanks Whistonlass ..
We're still waiting for rain ...
... can't yet put away the watering cans !

... but it seems many parts of the UK will get rain Saturday and/or Sunday ...

6 May, 2011

Hi Pam ...
Maybe you could write a Cuckoo blog ... ?

6 May, 2011

Great blog TT, your canine friends must be the best in the world for doing many good little jobs around the garden etc. It's drier than 1976 here which started in early April and ended in early September, it rained 21 times between those months. The rainfall here in Surrey has been January 76ml. just over 3 inches. Feb. 26ml. just over 1 inch. March 25ml. just over 1 inch and April 6ml. just under quarter of an inch.
I am praying every day for rain, the opposite of Sylvia who doesn't want it to rain, just hope I get my prayers answered.

6 May, 2011

Pam, lucky you, I did a piece on not having heard the Cuckoo for years some time ago. I still haven't heard it, really miss it.

6 May, 2011

Hi Bob ...
Those are interesting statistics ... especially in inches ;o)
yes...
let's hope for lots of rain in everyone's dry gardens ...
My helpers deserve a rest from all the watering...

6 May, 2011

my part of surry doctorbob has been jan 86ml, feb 55ml, march 17ml, april 3ml, may so far nil... and today my back garden reached 28.5 degrees not a cloud in sight :-(

6 May, 2011

Surreylad .. I hope you get some rain this weekend ...

6 May, 2011

That's interesting Surreylad, I always enjoy seeing other rainfall numbers, we had our first May frost on Wednesday morning, nothing escaped, I think on the local allotments it will be small potatoes again this year. I think it is right to say weather is a good servant but a bad master. Sorry to hijack your blog TT.

6 May, 2011

Not a problem Bob... this is a "weather" blog :o)

6 May, 2011

Sorry terra, i know what you mean Bob it's good to see other figures to compare , our last frost was 20th March since then it's been above 5 degrees and i think your right about the allotment,, my plot is like dust...

6 May, 2011

Yes I am back, been away far too long. Missed so much and this blog and pictures TT - has proved that I must visit GOY again from now on. Down here in good old Dorset had a few spots of rain around 6pm today but we need a lot more - tons more, that wasn't even a taster. Could have done with some help from your 4-legged friends with my watering. Must just mention the colour of the Lady in red is absolutely wonderful.

6 May, 2011

Great blog Terra! It's rained here since yesterday off and on - heavily during the night and the same again about 9pm tonight! Garden has been well and truly watered!

6 May, 2011

Great blog as usual TT yes all needing rain and ours has arrived and all looking nice and lush.

My dicentra I got from Hywel has been blooming its socks off for some time now pink its beautiful.

I must try to get a white one .

7 May, 2011

7 May, 2011

Thanks Terra, i woke up to 4ml of rain this morning yippee :-))

7 May, 2011

Hi Surreylad ... yippee ... !!!

7 May, 2011

It's raining here in Northants this morning TT.....but it's Saturday and I feel lost, I can't go outside :o(( I may have to re-acquaint myself with the hoover

7 May, 2011

don't do it Anella!!!.....

rain.... rain.... rain.... from 4.00am---- still raining now ---lovely soft rain that you can hear soaking in the ground.... very happy--- as long as it knows when to stop! ( never satisfied !!)

7 May, 2011

I've just been out in my gardens, emptying my waterbutts' rainwater into other containers... so the next rainfall can refill the butts again ... can't waste a drop... there could be more weeks of drought ahead ...

7 May, 2011

That first picture is fantastic, if ever I wanted to follow a path..it would be this one. Great pics once again Terra. We have at last had rain, most of the night and this morning. Everything looks and smells wonderful! :-))

7 May, 2011

Good photos there Terra.. the raindrops on the leaves mikes them look even prettier! Rained all night here, very very heavy, running down the windows! Hazy sunshine now with quite a strong breeze! Like BA says smells lovely, and is starting to look lush!

7 May, 2011

I'm so pleased to read of the gardens being refreshed by the rain .. we waited a long time ... :o)

7 May, 2011

And so say all of us! TT. I'm off out now, to fill up the bird feeders!

7 May, 2011

Brilliant! Send Conker and Truffles round here next, they can do my garden too! :-)

7 May, 2011

Hi Red aly ...
Conker has his Sheltie-nav set for your garden...
Truffle says head North and then turn left for Lancs. ;o)

7 May, 2011

You have a beautiful garden Terratoonie and a beautiful dog.

7 May, 2011

Hi Casso...
Thank you ... my gardens have benefited from rain this morning, and there is more wet weather due overnight. I hope you've had rain in Kent too...

7 May, 2011

I think we've in for some heavy rain later the bbc have a big blue patch with a yellow blob .... right over us.....

7 May, 2011

Hi Pam ... ooooh .... beware of the yellow blobs ;o)

7 May, 2011

Aren't you all the lucky ones then ? We only had a shower overnight, and this afternoon it looked as though it was really going to be heavy..20 minutes at the most, and just steady...and only wet the surface..I looked in the butts..about an inch ! Very calm warm day though,so got lots done..Hope the forecast is right for tonight ..

7 May, 2011

Hi Bloomer ...
I hope by Sunday evening your water butts will be overflowing ... :o)

7 May, 2011

I'm glad you had some rain TT. I hope it's soaked your soil. Ours didn't :(

7 May, 2011

Sorry Terra, no help whatsoever as regards Ceanothus, I had mine years ago before I started taking notes, lol, theres a pic on my latest blog, I had a huge shrub one in the front garden and sad to say that one died in the winter and it was also well established...
Pleased to say its raining again, has been for a couple of hours 12-15am, I`m like you and also have overflow bins, old dustbins no longer needed since using wheeliebins, hubby thinks I`m mad but then he`s not a gardener, lol.....

7 May, 2011

hurray \0/\0/\0/ ...the 'blob' landed about 8.00pm and was still raining steadily at 10.30 when I went to bed... everywhere looks suddenly green !

8 May, 2011

We've had some rain, Hywel ...
... not sure how deep it has gone into the soil ...

... but, as with Lincs, I've now transferred rainwater to my old dustbins etc., so butts are emptied waiting for the next downpour ...

Hi Pam... glad to know the "blob" arrived ...
seems like you in the Midlands have had more rain than further East ... green is good ;o)

8 May, 2011

~lots of rain here thank goodness~everything looks much fresher!!

8 May, 2011

my large ceanothus also bit the bullet over the winter too sadly!

8 May, 2011

That's sad about your Ceanothus, Arlene .. over the cold winter, lots of leaves turned brown on several of my Ceanothus shrubs, but thankfully, all survived ...

8 May, 2011

Terra I`ve got my RHS big book out and I think by studying the leaf formation , arching habit and shade of blue the nearest I can tell mine is possibly Ceanothus Cascade...
Weather update, rain continued all night,I`ve been planting out all morning and pleased to say that this time the rain has penetrated, best conditions for that job in my opinion, good job as its now warm and windy, mainly cloudy here so at least the ground isn`t getting baked today........

8 May, 2011

Thanks Lincs...
I'll google Cascade and see if that looks like mine.
Glad your garden is getting beneficial weather :o)

8 May, 2011

Beautiful blog Terratoonie and Truffles and Conker has done a wonderful job of keeping it all fresh and watered for you love that photo of the water droplets on the leaf.

9 May, 2011

Thank you Sixpence ...

We need yet more rain ... Conker and Truffle could be back using their watering cans again soon ! Pleased you like the water droplets pic :o)

10 May, 2011

Yes we do Terratoonie if it keeps up Conker and Truffles will qualify to be fire men lol yes the leaves with water droplets stunning like little diamonds glistening and diamonds are a girls best friend lol..

10 May, 2011

Lol... Thanks 6d... I like that pic. so much I've put it on as a separate GoY photo ...

Bring on the diamonds... rain or real ;o)

10 May, 2011

Lol it deserves a separate goy photo with diamonds too.
Yes bring it on I say too :o))

10 May, 2011

Greta to see a garden that in such good health in spite of the high temps & weeks without a drop of rain. :-)) The photos of the leaves with rain drops on them are fabulous!

We also had a shower on Friday & another on Saturday but the ground on the allotment still looks (& feels!) like grey sand!

10 May, 2011

Thanks Balcony....
I guess, in recent weeks, trying to keep your allotment watered must have been a very difficult task... Let's hope for some rain over coming days.. :o)

10 May, 2011

It's getting darker by the minute here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some rain.
We still haven't really had a good soaking here.
Even the two little bits we had over the weekend weren't really 'wet'.
Now I'm in two minds as to weather (he he) to water the garden when I get in from work.
Although I wouldn't be at all surprised if the rain waits until the minute I leave work and then pours down!!!

Thanks to Conker and Truffle for their 'woofs'.

And thanks also to everyone on the GYO site for making my lunchtimes go every sooo quickly now I have found this site.

11 May, 2011

Hi Gill ...
There are so many gardens crying out for rain !

... Conker and Truffle really do deserve a rest from so very many trips with their little watering cans ! ;o)

11 May, 2011

I love those leaves with raindrops on them at the end. Simply stunning.

19 May, 2011

I am pleased to present the 'Bornagain's Flowerpot' Award to you, as well :o))))))

19 May, 2011

Hi Pip ...
Thanks for the award :o)
I like the raindrops pic, so I put it on GoY as a separate photo, too.
... but we need more raindrops ...
We've just been using our watering cans again !
