pumpkin growth week in august...

Wow!! - can't think of anything else to say!!

Gosh they are monsters Sandra, what is your secret??.
I was very disappointed this week, something has eaten my baby pumpkins, there were three one day and none the next, its my first ever attempt to grow any, it never occurred to me to protect them...

good soil, lots of water, good seed, and a lot of luck....oh and a lot of space the plants are huge and taking over in the tunnel...my OH is just obsessed....cant wait to weigh the marrows tomorrow...

its not to late for haloween Lincs, fingers crossed...x

thanks girls..its only a small village show but it raises money for the kids christmas party and its a bit of fun....

we all like a win Hywel....most shows have a pair of marrows and they have to be perfect and matching...ours dont do perfect.. luckily size is all that matters in our show...lol

i managed to hand pollinate my pumpkin with a male squash flower. I am now the proud owner of a 'skwumpkin'. :-)

That is one, no 2 handsome pumpkins! LT

marrows weighed in at 45 pound and 80 yes 80 pound..beating last years by 30 pound.....OH is delighted....i on the other hand am sad as the silicone on the pumpkin idea failed and it has collapsed in a heap...hey ho still have the other one...

Oh well done,Sandra..that is great...not surprised your OH is delighted..:o) ..well,as for the silicone...your Pumpkin will just have to wear a padded bra ! Lol.
