Planting the tomatoes in the tunnel...

Love it when its time to plant up the tunnel….Its a lot of work but with the OH leading the way its now all done…
Julian does the planting which is why they are all so straight…lol
We are growing 12 varieties this year it’s so hard to choose which ones and how many of each… I like the yellow and the orange ones, Ildi in particular whilst Julian prefers the Russian heritage varieties.
In August when the crop peeks family and friends help with the picking and eating and a few get to market…
As ever Ruby is making sure it all done properly.
Planting done its time to push the canes in…
Never push the canes in to close to the plant or you might damage the roots.
We use phormium leaves to tie with and find it great…its strong, biodegradable, and we can always find it as the plant grows right outside the tunnel, unlike a ball of string…where does it go?
Can’t wait to taste the first fruit..:-)
