weaving a dragon!!!

we love to have a Halloween bonfire. This year we decided to have a go at weaving a “something” to burn. in the past we have weaved a 6ft ball which decided it was rugby ball shaped as it main frame was not as strong as it needed to be..last year we attempted a butterfly which turned out more like a snail…
This year it started as a giant sweet pea wigwam..

It was at this point strong enough to trap a medium sized child..

With a few friends joining me we decided to add ears..

then some eyes with tree fern lashes…

The plan is to start a fire get it good and hot then place the dragon over the fire which we are hoping with act as a chimney and draw the fire up and out of its mouth. But we needed to to more weaving to block up the sides of the chimney..

Can’t believe how much of my willow it has used….and we still need one more weaving session to finish to the top.
Hope you like our attempt at weaving a dragon..:-)

lovely project, shame it went up in smoke - but you'll be able to make more when needed!
