I am still busy sewing and quilting as at this time of the year the garden is quietly stirrings it’s stumps. I know I have plenty of weeding and pruning to do but like most of you I am finding it too darned cold.
But I took the camera out for a ramble. Hope you like my spring ‘jewels’.
snowdrops and Cyclamen coum
Tulip ‘Early Harvest’ this is always this early and I have had the same bulbs for 4 years now.
Winter aconites are always so sunny and cheerful
the next 3 are named snowdrops.
Lady Beatrix Stanley
G.plicatus ‘Modern Art’
Ophelia
The reticulate and histroides Iris are coming into their own too
This pretty blue is Alida
This is Katherine Hodgkin.
Iceberg still flowering since late June, but I suspect next week will put paid to that too.
Most of my hellebores are just in bud but this photo and the next are the same one inside and out.
Not sure if this is a named one or not But I like the darker centre.
I have more photos of nearly open flowers so I will wait for a few more days and see if they come out more or get hidden by the snow.
stay warm and cosy now :o)

not really. Its just that I like the patterns on the 2 doubles. I don't think I will be spending lots of money on them ;o) its the first G plicatus I have and it just happened to be a named variety.
The tulips are well named and they are slowly bulking up.

So much flowering SBG. Your tulips are delightful. What a splash of colour they give so early in the year. For the past 4 or 5 years I've tried with Aconites without success, so I was thrilled the other day to spot a very small clump. I just hope they spread now. I love your darker Hellebore.

I found that planting aconites in the green was really the only way for them to take. the corms you buy are usually so dried out they are dead. the seed freely so that is a bonus.

Yes SBG, I'm aware that's the best way, like snowdrops but for some reason they've failed to appear the following year. ..until now!

You are a couple of weeks ahead of me Sbg especially the Tulips. I have been cutting back some shrubs......what to do with the off cuts?

G. Modern Art is different, some nice blooms appearing, at least the Hellebores will stand the cold weather coming our way.

I must. Try to get some aconites in the green. I’ve had no success with corms. They came for one year but then disappeared. Think I had one solitary bloom last year.

Your garden plants are looking lovely. Hope the snow will not stay around for to long

I like all those different types of Snowdrops. I forgot to plant my little Irises and now they are all dried up :(
It is also cold here, beautiful sunshine but that's no good to me when there's ice everywhere lol

Your flowers are all lovely. It is too hard to choose a favourite. The tulips are wonderful. Like the others I have planted aconites over the years without success.

Such a cheerful selection! I love Alida especially and the hellebores too.

Wow! Such a lot of colour. Love the cyclamen.

I love the Aconites and have always wanted some to spread under the trees and shrubs. Several attempts have failed, but there is one pot in the old greenhouse with flowers and one growing in the ground in the same spot, obviously a pot tipped over by big feet of the peacocks. It's much healthier looking than the other so will be dug up and replanted outside. The Hellebores are lovely, a plant which can be overlooked, but closer inspection reveals a beautiful flower whatever the colour. Must go and look for mine!

I scatter the aconite seed and every year I find a few more . I have some self sown hellebores too and they can be pretty.

Iceberg is amazing isnt it Sbg?! Have you started a galanthus collection? They are lovely. Im amazed to see you have tulips out already...what a pretty pot, so cheerful. Hopefully we will get through next week and it will maybe get a little milder in March...(who am I trying to kid.) lol!
