Spring is around the corner.

Several of you in the warmer South are showing bulbs in flower and I have been waiting impatiently for the first signs here.
Well today the eggy yellow of the winter aconites have started to show. Only the odd one poking its head above the yellow lamium. But there are lots more to come.
I also spotted a hen pheasant in one of the borders and watched her trundle her way off to the area under the beech tree.
In the conservatory these 4 scented Cyclamen have been flowering since mid November. They must be getting on for 11 years old now and so far have never let me down.

Wonderful cyclamen, and the scent is a real bonus! All I have is a few primroses and today just found two snowdrops!
No pheasants though!

Agree, the cyclamen is very beautiful, Eileen! Plus the longevity of them - wonderful!
Mrs Hen Pheasant looks like she’s busy en route somewhere! Lovely to see the vivid yellow aconites peeking through!

Mrs pheasant was waiting for me when I went to fill the feeders this morning; she is certainly feeding herself up today Siris.
My snowdrops are also poking through Stera but a long way off from being fully out.
She certainly isn't running away this morning Kate as long as she doesn't go nipping buds off she'll be welcome. I love all Cyclamen and have done since I was little girl.
Give them time Meadow and they will get bigger and bigger each year. Dead head them so they don't waste energy on setting seed.

I am still waiting for bulbs to actually come up yet! My dwarf daffodils are just showing , but I was so late putting all my tulip and daffodil bulbs in a big raised bed. Some in the front garden are showing now.

It's nice to think spring is arriving slowly and the garden is starting to wake up :)

Very pretty cyclamen. Lucky you with your lady visitor! I'm thrilled - I have ONE aconite returning! A real success for me. I have planted some every year for the past 5 years, this is my only repayment... ( Same with crocuses which shrink every year ...).

Lovely to see spring flowers coming out! I've seen plenty of Snowdrops around town but the couple I planted on the balcony last year don't seem to have put in an appearance this year - yet! But there is always hope!
In the autumn last year I dug up a very narrow bed alongside a wall at the church I attend. The poor Daffs that had been there for donkeys' year were getting worse by the year. So I dug the whole bed up & took out the few surviving bulbs I could find, mixed in some spent compost to improve moisture retention & to open up the soil a little & then planted bulbs I had taken over from the balcony last year.
The first few Daffs have been flowering for a couple of weeks now & there are lots more to come! 😃

The cyclamens are simply gorgeous!

Your cyclamen are gorgeous. Make your heart sing, don't they?
It doesn't matter where I live my bulbs are always slower than anyone else's. There are quite a number of snowdrops out now but I have only one or two so far. The daffodils are showing through but not far enough to see any buds, yet further up the road they are almost in flower. I do though, have one (so far) blue Anemone Blanda peeping through the front garden rockery.

Those Cyclamen are to die for. The pheasant looks a bit skinny, hope she avoids any guns.
