The Garden Community for Garden Lovers

End of June

Not been very busy on the forums due to good and bad family events.

The bad news is Elizabeth is getting a divorce from Matthew. They married in 2022 but sadly it hasn’t been right for either of them. Thankfully she lives about 5 miles away so we have been busy supporting her. She is much better in herself and domestic matters are settling down.

The good news is that Victoria and Dan have ‘bought’ their first home in Norfolk. We have been down several times helping with decorating, plumbing and gardening. Now they are 3 1/2 hrs away so that has needed us to stay over.

The consequences have been a total neglect of the garden. On the dry days hubby and I have been out on the motor bike.

Plants flowering nicely this last week: photos following:

Centaurea macrocephala and Lysimachia punctata

Veronica ‘Blue Candles’

A plant that is now considered a native Trifolium rubens.

Rose ‘Queen Elizabeth’

A lovely species Lily- Lilium pardalinum giganteum

Iris siberica ‘How Audacious’

Hemerocallis ‘Bonanza’

Helenium ’Sahin’s Early Flowerer’

A lovely climber, looks great from underneath too. Clematis ‘Betty Corning’

I could take pictures of the British natives but I am sure you all know what bindweed, nipplewort, willowherb and cleavers look like! ;)

Oh Eileen,I'm so very sorry to hear of your 'bad' news.On a positive note how good to have Elizabeth and your other daughter near to you.
Your photos are beautiful especially the Corning Clematis.

That is sad news, and difficult times for all of you. Glad you are getting some fun on the bike. The garden seems to thrive on neglect! X

Sorry to hear your news, but glad you are close by for support at a this time. Your close-ups are stunning. I have 'V. Corning' too and I think she is a cracker. I have been trying to eradicate the trifolium for 4 or more years - it's back stronger than ever this season!

I shall try for the third time to leave a comment! I have put a 'Like' for your lovely flower photos, not for the break up of the marriage. Well done to you and your husband for helping both your girls.

So sorry about the sad news about your daughter, but on the upside you will have your other family nearer to you.
I have just returned from Suffolk and love it!

I had also written a reply saying I was sorry to hear about the sad news about your daughter, but on the upside you will have your other family nearer to you.
I have just returned from another holiday in Suffolk and love it there.
Rick and I used to go three times a year.

Lovely photos of your plants :)

It's sad when a couple break up, and it's a worry for everyone. I'm sorry it has come to that for Elizabeth and Matthew, but I hope they can both rebuild their separate lives and have a happy future.

It's good you can help Victoria and Dan in their new home, it's something positive for you and husband, which you must need now.
