Progressing nicely.

Well I never expected this.
I opened my lab door this morning to be greeted by a faint scent of Freesia. ‘Odd’ thought I. Venturing in I noticed ‘it’ had opened.
Jewel by name and Jewel by nature. This is a closer view. I’d say it was a semi double flower. What do you think? The fragrance is subtle but very nice non the less.
The other one saved from an arid end is still doing well, but I think it will need staking as it is geting rather like Topsy.
They might just open this week but if not, well they will be soon. They are very thirsty plants and I will have to think about giving them a good feed too.

Sorry SBG only just found this blog, really lovely. I do agree with Gilli's idea of the fragrance button, I'm sure this one smells beautiful.

it is similar to freesia, a slight peppery smell to it. though the peppery bit isnt smelt by every one. its a genetic thing aparently.

Lovely looking flowers! I hope one of my seedling gives me something like this!
You don't want to start to feed them until the leaves are fully grown - it won't do anything & you could end up up giving them too much fertilizer. A tomato or rose fertilizer are the best together with the sunniest place you can find for them.

Yes I knew about the feeding regime. I read spritz's blog just to be certain.

Hope you get lots of flowers next year as well. I've got three bulbs in one pot that have flowered every year for the last 8 years.
