It had to go i’m afraid it has a hole somewhere and to be honest needed a complete overhaul, its been in 15 years so it does not owe me anything and the enjoyment i and my children have had and other children and grandchildren is second to none, i feel very guilty for the frogs but its become too much for me now so it has to go.

Filled it in over the weekend with rubble, dropping one brick on my toe…ouch!! Lovely bruise on it but not broken thank goodness, i plan to make it into a rockery eventually, am waiting until the builder comes to do the patio and gravel garden then some of the soil can be used to fill on top of rubble, i shall enjoy looking out for some plants to put on it, any suggestions would be greatly recieved. The photo below shows it at its best….

What a shame it has to go SK, but if it is too much work for you then this is prob the best time to do it.. with the builders rubble etc..

You have done the best thing SK if it was getting too much for you to look after. It's no good making it a chore for you instead of something enjoyable so now look forward to having a nice rockery with some lovely new plants, that hopefully will not need so much looking after. Best of Luck.

Ponds are so much work, we have the Otters & Raccoons that play havoc with our ponds. Always nice to start a new project. Have fun with it. Nice looking pond.

It's going to look lovely with a rockery and some planting, SK....I know the garden can be too much for you and with the work being done already, now is the perfect time to make a switch from pond to rockery.

Hope your toe isn't too uncomfy....we are a danger to ourselves sometimes trying to do jobs outside. Take care.

Our daughter got me some rocks via freecycle...might be worth a look if there is a freecycle in your area, SK. Of course they sell rocks at GC, but for a price. Hope you find some rocks to your liking :)

Shame it had to go but never mind you will have a lovely rockery now and you won't have the hassle of maintaining the pond, happy gardening :-)

Oh, that must be hard to say goodbye to your pond after 15 years! I understand your reasons though, and a rockery will look lovely with lots of new plants. We found our three small rocks for the gravel garden were cheaper, and there was more choice, at a builders merchants, not a GC. Have fun with it. : o ))
