I was amazed . . . are you?!

When I went to check on my cuttings in the cold frame yesterday, I found that one is in flower! It’s from the low-growing Ceratogstigma, not the bushy one. I’ve never known this to happen before . . . I hope it means that it’s happily growing roots, but no doubt someone could tell me from their own experience.
Then I decided to take a misty, autumnal picture of the colours in the garden from an upstairs window. You will be doing well if you can identify all the plants!
Our favourite Acer is in a raised bed, so is happier than the ones in our alkaline/neutral soil.
What a short blog, but thanks for joining me :))

Short but sweet Sheila - can't help you re advice for your cuttings and the only ones I can ID are the ones in the close up :) Think there is a grass of some sort at the front of that bed??
Gorgeous atomospheric shot though :))

Thanks Pam - yes, I thought I should remove the flower; glad to know it's happened to you too!
Thanks very much Scottish . . . yes, there are a couple of grasses: I don't remember them going bronze before :)

The autumnal scene from your window is very atmospheric. Lovely as it is, there is a hint that the autumn leaves will soon be falling to the ground and the colours we treasure will be over :-(

Thanks Chris. You're so right, many leaves fell today, and OH collected 9 barrowloads!

Yes, I wonder why so many fell today? Ours are still lying on the ground coz OH has hurt his back! Perhaps a wind will blow them all into a corner one day soon!

Sweeping and vacuuming is the order of the day now! We have so many trees in and bordering the garden. I love them, but ... No matter how long I spend clearing leaves this year, I shall wonder why there are so many still there next spring. Never mind - it's good exercise! Your garden looks lovely, and autumn is a very special time of year. All those pinky bronzes are so beautiful.

My OH has a bad back too Chris, but the doc said to keep moving! (just hope it's no worse . . . )
Thanks Susanne . . . I do love trees as well, but there will probably by another 9 barrowloads tomorrow!

blue is such a good colour is'nt it? judging by the green leaves on the flowering cutting it's a fair bet it has rooted as opposed to the browner leaved cuttings. Just a guess! However, the other two cuttings are looking strong.
Superb red acer btw !!

Thanks Bampy - knew you'd like the acer! And yes, I love that piercing blue . . . I'll go out and give the cuttings a gentle tug today, and maybe a kind word . . .

Its a pretty plant Sheila, seems a shame to remove the flower but its in a good cause, love the photo of your garden, lots of days like that now although the sun is trying to come out today, at least the cold has dried the pathways today so I might get out to do a bit of deadheading, no promises though I haven`t acclimatised myself yet this morning ,lol.....

Thanks Lincslass. Well, the flower was dying this morning anyway, and all the cuttings seem to have taken, so I'm happy. Enjoy your day :)

Hi Sheila its a nice little flower,
its happened to me with pelargonium cuttings, the do store energy in the stems so it can happen,
I,d remove the flower especially not letting it go to seed as whilst its doing that as you say you want it to make a good root system
