Lovely blossoms, Sheila. You've a really gorgeous selection of trees blossoming right now. It's Bern a lovely weekend, the sun was warm this morning.

Thanks Kate, I do love cherry blossom! Five trees (kojo-no-mai has finished) and one more to flower, only in bud so far, P. Royal Burgundy. I’m not obsessed, honest 🙂.

Do you know the poem by A E Houseman that starts "Lovliest of trees, the cherry now Is hung with blossoms on the bough"....If not, do look it up - easily found
on line. I love it and so will you.(But I bet you do know it!)
I look forward to seeing the blossom against a blue sky, but this year our skies have been mostly grey...
Your photos are beautiful.

Thank you so much Sue, and I'm flattered that you're sure I know the poem by Houseman. I'm afraid the only thing that I know about Houseman is from the beginning of a play by the great Tom Stoppard, The Invention of Love. Are you sitting comfortably?
A.E.Houseman has died and is waiting by the Styx for the ferryman, Charon. They chat, and then Houseman asks 'Are we waiting for someone?' Charon says 'He's late.' Another pause, H 'Are you sure?' C. 'A poet and a scholar is what I was told.' H' I think that must be me. C. Both of them? H. I'm afraid so. C. It sounded like two different people. H. I know. And so on ..
I think it's hilarious. I'm obviously not a raving intellectual, but I do tend to buy Stoppard's plays, because If you go to see one, you need a bit of prior information because lines are easily missed when the audience are laughing so much.
Don't despair, blue skies will be with us soon :)

What a lovely poem, Sue, I’ve just googled it! Worth trying to learn it I think … do you know it by heart?

Lovely blossom photos Sheila, thanks for posting them.
“About the orchards I must go, to see the cherry, hung with snow”

Thanks Josee. Who is the poet - you perhaps?

A E Houseman, 😊

Ah, a kindred spirit then. Thank you.

Lovely photos Sheila of your cherry trees..:)
They bring us such cheer don't they.. If I had room for another cherry it would be the prunus autumnalis, the blossoms seem.to go on forever spreading over quite a few winter months. The Amelanchier is a real beauty with it's blossoms and very pretty contrasting spring leaves. My neighbour showed me her Morello cherry tree today, very pretty single white flowers, which looked like snow flakes and a neat small tree too..x

Thank you Janey, I agree … the blossom at this time of year makes us all smile every day 🙂.

Your photo's always make me smile Sheila, mine are always aim, shoot and hope for the best, definitely an amateur also, the cherry blossom is long gone but ia was lovely to see, little plum is out and the apple won't be long, its weird here my bulbs were all early especially the tulips but the amelanchier and bridal wreath are only just beginning to sprout, think they are both waiting for sunshine to come back...

Thanks very much Lincs … I think your shrubs probably have the right idea!
