Spring has sprung!

Just a few photos showing lovely new leaf growth – particularly of Acers. They seem to be burgeoning a little more each day!
Acer ‘Jordan’ still quite small in its fourth year

Acer ‘orange dream’ or is it ‘coral bark’?

Pieris ‘forest flame’

Tulips almost finished

Prunus ‘chocolate ice’ … star of the show :)

Happy gardening everyone!

Sheilabub I love your acers and especially your Pieris Forest flame I don't have one of those but I have Photinia and the colours are similar

Thank you Jane 🙂.

Looking great Sheila - still remains damn cold and dull here - given up myself

Looking lovely, Sheila. My acers are still in the greenhouse but I'm desperate for the space so they'll have to come out into the cold come what may. Like Paul, we're perishing cold here. I know what he means about giving up. The cherries are a treat.

I have put up pics of the anemone we discussed.

Lovely photos which are so welcoming. Beautiful acers, Pieris and blossoms.

Just wish the weather would warm up and give us all something to really celebrate about this wonderful season.

Thanks Paul, Ange and Chris for your lovely comments. Yes, still very cold here too … we really do need some warm sunshine, for our plants as well as us!

The contrast between the flowers and leaves on your Prunus is stunning.

Many thanks Sue - we love it too 🙂.

Wow your Prunus is gorgeous Sheila, I'm starstruck, think your Acer is Orange Dream, I have one here...

Thank you Lincs, I can never tell the difference 🙂.

Good to see your Jordan is unfurling Sheila, such pretty leaves. Orange Dream is looking very strong and beautiful and the Pieris, I do love those. Yes your chocolate ice cherry really is a stunner. I've not seen it before, only yours..x

I agree with all the above, especially like the Prunus. Great photos. Things on the whole seem very slow to get going this year. I’ve lost the Penstemon you sent me ( apple blossom) & other things in the frost that we had.

Thanks very much Janey - no, I’ve not seen P. Chocolate Ice anywhere else either. It took four years before flowering so perhaps that’s why.

Thanks Josee … that’s a shame about the Penstemon. I’ve lost mine too, so evidently not as hardy as we thought.

Lovely pics, Sheila! Spring seems to be a little behind up till now! Your pieris look so vibrant, and the prunus definitely is a star! My acers have finally woken up and seem to be on fast forward now!!!! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much for your lovely comments Kate ... yes my acers have only just woken up too :)

Many thanks Klahanie … it’s definitely my favourite this season. So glad you like it too 🙂.

I'm on 'catch up' with GoY as we went away to Dorset last week. The blossom in your garden is a treat, Sheila, as are the Acers. We had a downpour of rain with hail at 1pm today ... :o(

Thanks Shirley. We recently had a few days away in Dorset too, by Lulworth Cove. Hope you had a good time.

We explored the area, found a lovely plant seller at Wareham Saturday market, took the steam train up to Corfe Castle, played tourist really! I was underwhelmed with Lulworth Cove, possibly the wrong time of year to see at its best? Having said that, we would definitely return to the county of Dorset.

Shirley, when I was still with my parents we lived close to Poole harbour. So we often visited the Jurassic coast where Durdle Door and Lulworth were favourites. No crowds in those days! So with OH at the end of April we were underwhelmed too. We’ve had better luck in the past staying in or near Lyme Regis.

Klahanie, yes it is an interesting area for geologists, and we have sometimes found fossils on the beaches near Lyme.

Sheila, so many folk were there that I found it far too busy! The shop was interesting, if a little expensive on most items, and the museum charged an entry fee so we didn't bother as we had already paid £6.50 minimum fee to park ... :o(

We shall return to Dorset later in the year, a different part though!

We were the same Shirley … stunned to see a thousand cars in the car park, then OH had to download an App in order to pay. We did have a lovely cold lager in a pub garden, but the meal in the evening gave me food poisoning! The saving grace was our B&B with a pleasant peaceful little garden 🙂.

Oh my word, Sheila, food poisoning from a pub meal - disastrous - poor you!

I know Shirley, very unlucky … 🙁
