… for very tall plants :)
I don’t think I have ever seen 5 foot Cornflowers before, or 5 foot Sweet Rocket (white and purple Hesperis Matronalis). OH (6ft) says it’s nice to have flowers at nose level! They are on the left, obviously, in front of Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy.
We call this the Amelanchier bed (it’s in the centre) and has Melica (ornamental grass) in the front, which I’m happy to say has seeded itself quite copiously, some Geraniums and bright pink Dianthus.
In Devon there is a wonderful garden and nursery called Wildside, imagined and built by Keith Wiley. We visited many years ago when it was in its early days, and I admired a pretty grass and asked what it was. ‘Melica’ said Keith; his wife overheard and went and dug up a piece for me … a lovely gesture and memory.
Hope some of you are also having a glorious sunny Thursday :)

Julia, I’m so glad you know both. Keith Wiley was head gardener at The Garden House straight from college (I’m currently reading all about his life in his book “On the Wildside”). When we visited The Garden House on a one hour detour going home from Falmouth, OH said it was the most beautiful garden he’d ever seen!
Thanks very much Klahanie and Shirley 🙂.

Thank you for reminding me of The Garden House and Keith Wiley’s garden as we haven’t been for quite a while! I love both of them and so will plan a day out very soon. Both will probably be at their best now.
Yours is just a lovely frothyness of soft colours!

That is tall for a cornflower Shirley ! It's nice husband can see them without bending down :D
Weather is a bit too hot here now. I wasn't able to stay out in it yesterday afternoon.

Thanks Chris … do look at the Wildside website because he only opens for a few days each month (possibly because, sadly, his wife Ros died a few years ago).
Thank you Hywel … I’ll forgive you for getting my name wrong - many do! Yes, very hot now, but lovely to see the clear blue sky 🙂

Oh dear I am sorry Sheila ! It comes from too much daydreaming :D

Hywel, I think Sheila would agree with me that our names are very easily mistaken! :o))

They are Shirley, and I do approve of plenty of daydreaming Hywel … I do quite a bit of it myself 🙂.

Much too hot here today, but stupidly decided to cut down a lilac shrub. Need a bed in a dark room now …
