Some flowers from seed ...

Happy to be out in these warm temperatures compared to the poor people holidaying in southern Europe.

A few not-very-good photos as usual!

Verbena Rigida from seed

Verbana Bampton seeding itself around

Anemone

Hibiscus trionum

Nigella (a much stronger blue than shown!)

Happy gardening everyone!

Gorgeous colours, Sheila! It’s feeling a touch Mediterranean over where you are too! The Nigella looks so pretty, I can imagine it’s a denser blue. I noticed my anemone hasn’t come back this year..another plant lost.

Thanks very much Kate. That’s a shame about your anemone.

Thanks Callie - which verbena are you growing? There are so many different ones!

Its the same as yours Sheila verbena rigida , but I only planted it this year so may be taking a little while to get going.

Hopefully yours will flower soon Callie. Mine were only planted out about four weeks ago, so I’m surprised they’re flowering so soon. Pleased though as it’s the first time I’ve grown them and I like the vibrant colour 🙂.

We're obviously going in opposite directions, Sheila.I have a love-hate relationships with seeds now! I have spent hours pulling out nigella and pink mallow, borage and honesty and lychnis (among others) which have insinuated themselves all over my borders. This state of affairs has been made much worse by the fact that the prolonged drought and then pouring rain meant that I haven't been able to do much with the borders this year. Yours look pretty though!

Klahanie, thank you very much :)

Thanks Ange. That's the trouble with self-seeders, fine if you like them, annoying if not! I'm sure you'll love the white Mallow though ...

Lovely to see so many flowers from seed! 👏

I grew a lot of plants from seed for the church gardens & many are now in full bloom like Calendulas, African Marigolds * one or 2 of the Cosmos seedlings are now showing buds. August is going to be spectacular once the majority have opened!

Well done Balcony! That will be a sight to see 🙂.

They look very nice photos to me Sheila. I sowed some seed that I thought was Fennel & Nigella came up! Didn’t know I had any. I shall keep the seed for next year to put in a more appropriate place. I had V rigida but it seems to have disappeared, in the drought perhaps. I love the Japanese Anemones, both pink & white. Flowers in the garden at last, since we ‘ve had a bit of rain.

Ange2 I sowed Honesty( mixed) & only got 4 plants from the packet. Very disappointing & there you are weeding it out!

The success in sowing seeds seems to be a complete “lottery”! Thank you Josee.

I have just been collecting seeds of Hibiscus trionum, and have quite a few to spare. Please PM me if you would like some.

I agree, lovely photos as always Sheila. You've some unusual plants there. I especially like the Hibiscus, such a contrast of colouring, I would love some seeds please. The Nigella are so pretty, I've always loved them, but they don't grow for me..x
