Mid-May garden

Here are some photos of flowers in my garden today – some kindly gifted by generous GoYers.

My first time at growing these Gladiolus communis Byzantinus – very Mediterranean!

Rosa ‘Arthur Bell’ – he has a lovely scent as well as being good-looking

White Iris with Erysimum ‘Bowles Mauve’

Stripey grass from a neighbour – a good doer

Foliage of Echinops – from Bloomer

Geranium pyrenaucum ‘Summer Snow’ – from CottageKaren

Colourful Aquilegias – a favourite of mine

Sedum ‘Purple Emperor’ – from Pansypotter

Sedum telephium ‘Autumn Charm’ recently planted where an anonymous Pink Geranium was taking over! – from Scottish

Aquilegia ‘Nora Barlow’ – from Oddbillie

Pretty twirly Aquilegia – from Karen – have forgotten the name of it!

Welsh Poppy – grown from seed sent by Rachelsmum

My big blue pot from Freecycle – now planted with a Coprosma ‘Pacific Sunset’ along with some trailing Pelargoniums

Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’ grass – from Stroller

Allium ‘Purple Sensation’

Mixed Heucheras

Wall basket with Heucheras and trailing plants – lined with moss raked off the back lawn!

Red Hot Pokers – from a GW magazine offer

I was surprised to see this lone flower of Gladiolus nanus ‘Prins Claus’ today – it has been left all Winter in a stone trough – hate the trough but love the flower!

Thanks for viewing this blog.

Lovely Shirley. I think that Aquilegia is called 'Ballerina'. It was from Mum's seed. :) nice to see that you've been gifted some lovely things, as you are so generous with yours. Your Heuchera is ready to send, but not sure about the hebes, still need to check the roots...

I really enjoyed that, Shirley. I've put Gladiolus communis etc. in this year but mine is not in flower yet. I thought the white iris with the Bowles Mauve looked lovely and I really, really like your wall basket combination. The geranium Summer Snow is gorgeous too.

What a lovely collection of plants you have Shirley and I can't believe the red hot poker is already flowering ! I had just put a grass in a new collection of pots and couldn't recall what it was ! Now looking at your blog, I remembered its the one you sent me, so have put this blog in my favourites incase I forget the name again !

Thanks for all your lovely comments! ... :o)))

Gralew, shame on your OH for discarding the Moss! the Coprosma is one of the two I've had in the big blue pots for a couple of years - one is now thriving in the back garden, the other in a bigger blue pot! I don't have Penstemon Beech Park - and many thanks for rooting the Hebe for me ... :o)

Rose, I sent you a piece of the Hakonechloa didn't I? Originally came from Stroller. I love the way our plants travel up and down the country!

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments!

Gralew, shame on your OH for discarding the Moss! Penstemon Beech Park looks a really pretty pink and white one. Thanks for rooting a Hebe for me :o)x

Rose, I hope the grass thrives in your garden. It came originally from Stroller. I love the way our plants are living in gardens up and down the country! :o)

You have lots of nice plants Shirley :)
That stripy grass was in my parents' garden. My mother used to call it 'Boy's Ribbon' lol ... (maybe that was because she only had boys !)

I have the grass in a lovely blue pot and will be putting pictures on soon. I also have a lovely blue Veronica from Hywel , and yes its great isn't it how we can all share our plants. How is your Pony Tail grass ?

22 May, 2014

I'd forgotten about that Rose lol :)

Hywel - I just noticed that I commented twice in a row - another senior moment! Love the way your Mum called it 'Boy's Ribbon' !

Rose - the Pony Tail grasses are thriving in pots - soon to be planted in the border :o)x

Sometimes things do come out several times Shirley ...
Yesterday I had a PM from someone and it had come out 18 times !!
A few days ago another PM had come out 12 times ... I thought I must have suddenly become very popular, to have all those PMs ... but it was the same one repeated over and over lol
:O

23 May, 2014

Oh Hywel, how strange to have had so many repeated! I can see why you thought you were really popular all of a sudden ... lol!

Lovely blog Shirley and so many beautiful plants :-), you're right my aquilegia does look like Nora Barlow it must have been a present from the birds as its not one I've ever grown, its funny as yesterday I went onto our allotment at the bottom of the garden and noticed a couple of the plots had some self sown aquilegia 'Magpie' which must have come from my garden!!

27 May, 2014

I just looked at pics of A. 'Magpie' - what a beauty!
