Madeira in Bloom - Monte Palace Gardens

The last of my Madeira blogs. It was nice to look back on the photos, whilst writing it.
We took the local bus to Monte Palace Gardens, a 30 minute ride, 5 km up the hill, for the grand cost of I.95 euros each.

The palace, was the residence of the British Consul in the 18th century.

The garden (70,000m sq) is set on the hillside and therefore terraced

This stunning garden has many lakes and ponds, this the central lake

A collection of antique tiles, telling Portuguese history is incorporated into the walls

And statues on the ‘art walk’ (1hr)

The Northern Oriental garden

A Fuchsia amongst the lush vegetation.

The Southern Oriental garden

Koi carp have been introduced to the ponds, some over a metre in length and apparently up to 100 years old

Hydrangea, all were blue.

Thank you everone. I think this one was the most spectacular, a pleasure garden, liked the botanical garden, it was...mmm... botanical! But also interesting and beautiful.

He enjoys wild life, evening meals, and riding on the buses. And if I am happy and not grizzling, so is he!
