Hyde Hall

After a weekend visiting friends in Essex, on the Monday we visited RHS Hyde Hall.
Huge pots of Tulips at the entrance.
Inside pots with living structures. I like the red stems of the Dogwood.
Pergola leading to the pond area.
I will leave you to wander around the ponds
And enjoy the vistas.
These next 2 photos are for DottyDaisy, showing Tree Ferns starting into growth.
My OH and friends went inside for a coffee as the day was quite chilly, but I continued to the dry garden. Ironical as it was raining slightly.
The following plants were the ones that most grabbed my attention.
Must have plants!
Acaena inermis purpurea, (just realised the label is not readable)
And this one, with no label, but I think it is Rhodiola heterodata
Of course I did not leave empty handed. I bought a Dodecatheon and a pot of miniature Narcissus. Unfortunately they did not sell those ‘must have’ plants.

Those Tulip pots were huge, several different groupings with different coloured planting combinations.
One the drive way in, the grassy sides were planted with dark blue Camassia and Cowslips, stunning. Just as I would imagine a prairie planting.

Lovely pictures but, of course, I didn't need convincing Hyde Hall is a great place to visit. Funny because I have a blog up with photos taken there on Sunday but, apart from the Wisteria Pergola and the fern area, they are all of different areas. our fern photos were taken from almost the same spot it seems, from above.

Paul, How great to have Hyde Hall on your doorstep. Just seen your blog. Was that the same duck that so interested little Fleur? having a rest day after the plant Fayre on the Sunday.
This was only a selection of the photos I took.
I was able to ask in their information centre about a plant identification and saw Foxtail Lilies and Perasites growing, which is when I decided much too big for my garden.

My foxtail lily was in my big border at the last house but it's a bit too big for this tiny bed ion my front garden here but, doesn't really fit with my back garden planting scheme.
the hilly parts of the garden ...to your left as you come in and walk up towards the dry garden and restaurant etc used to be where you parked your car when we first started going 20 odd years ago(you entered from a completely differentdirection from a different road)...it's a huge site and more of it is used now than used to be. No, a different duck....ha ha.I'm sure she'll get to meet that one some day though!

Thanks Paul, our friends are local members and explained about the gardens development.
Bathgate, the Royal Horticultural Society has several large gardens, Wisley, Rosemore, Harlow Carr and Hyde Hall, open to members free and the public for a fee.

Thanks. Siris, for sharing the tour and your lovely pics.
fantastic pergola !

The pergola is beautiful with the white Wisteria growing over it.

The attention to detail there is wonderful to see and the combinations of plants 'just work' don't they?!
I think the last plant is my favourite, so dainty and such a pretty colour.

Its amazing to see those ferns so far ahead of mine. Mine are still tight to the ground. Hardly a single thing unfurling yet. Just shows the difference in growing season from south to North. Lovely place....I would like to see if for myself one day. Those first tulips are gorgeous!
