Desirable Home vacant!

This is the bird box that was taken over last year by Tree Bumble Bees. At the end of the year, after they had gone I cleaned it out, and gave it a coat of wood preservative We did actually see the queen Bumble Bee searching the area but this year Great Tits got to the box first.
This morning we were having breakfast in the conservatory and watched the last of the brood leave home. It fluttered/ dropped from the front into the border below.
I hope it will survive as we had a thunder storm late afternoon, with some short sharp showers.

That's unfortunate Bathgate. We didn't see it again or either of the parents.

Hope it made it. We have a nest of starlings in a hole in the roof of the workshop. I was watching the parents taking worms in there today. The nest is right over the door to workshop and boy do they make a mess lol. Hubby says he plans to repair the roof once they have gone.

I know what you mean about mess, Jen. An evergreen Trachelospermum jasminoides is trained over our front door. There is a movement detector security light there and the birds roost at night here to keep warm. They obviously they like to sleep with the light on!

Good for them getting in there first before the bees. My neighbour had an owl box which was taken over by bees, huge box, so they had lots of room!

oh lets hope they made it. Our box that the bees used last year needs checking as nothing appears to be in there. Lots of wildlife to keep us all interested.

I'm rooting for him. 'You can do it!' Unfortunately my nest of robins did not. They were all taken in a violent storm. Mama just starred at me without a sound - then flew off.
