Hi everyone. As a few of you will know, I went to Papworth Hospital at the beginning of the month with my Husband, John, who was very sick. I am sad to say that John passed away on 9th October, in Papworth Hospital, despite all their massive efforts to help him. It has been a dreadful time and just spending an hour here and there in the garden – albeit a very small garden – has helped a lot. Prior to going to Papworth I had lots of good wishes from fellow gardeners and I just wanted to say thanks to all for their thoughts. It’s going to be a very strange life for me for some time to come. I will definitely be taking a lot of comfort from immersing myself in this friendly site. Thanks all of you for making the site so welcoming.

So sad for you Sprog. Words at a time like this are inadequate, but if it helps to know that many many people are caring, we all are and will be. You need lots of strength. Our love comes out to you.

Hello Lynda,
This is such a devastating time for you..I can relate..as I was widowed a little over 3 years ago. Unless someone has gone through this loss..it is hard to know how it is...just understand that I know..shed all the tears you need to...there is no time line for dealing with anything. It is a very personal thing..my love and my heart...~Caroline

Hi Lynda - It is impossible for most to fully understand how life changing losing your spouse is until you have experienced it yourself. I see from your latest photo that you have a granddaughter of a similar age to mine. It was my granddaughter that brought me out of the shock of my loss (same month as Caroline) and brought some purpose back into my life. I next turned to exercise for the endorphins but of course being a foolish male I did too much. I next found more purpose and pleasure in my garden. This in turn led me to make new friends, gain knowledge and have a bit of harmless fun on GOY.
It is right and good that you have been able to tell us of your loss. I hope all the support expressed here helps a little at this most difficult of times. Best regards Steve

Hello Sprog. Pleased to hear from you.
So very sorry to read the news about John passing away.
Papworth Hospital staff obviously did everything possible to help him. The hospital has a very high reputation.
Yes, spending time in the garden can help a lot. A pity we are reaching a time of year when days are getting colder and the weather won't be inviting you outside too much...... but not that many weeks till springtime.
What spring flowers do you have in your garden ?
You have the wonderful global family of GoY supporting you and I'll be looking out for your blogs and photos over coming months. Just join in when you feel able...
Love and hugs. Terratoonie. xxx
