In praise of GoY ~ blogging/gardening with friends

As the sun starts to warm the garden, it wakes up the soil, the plants and our energy ~ all ready to get out and about ~ and to take our photos and blog!
To help you through this blog you may want to play the song that you will find at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3PWAoFDShY
hopefully the words will fit:
Gee Oh why oh why oh why why
Gee Oh why oh why oh why why
Gee Oh why oh why oh why why
When the day is dawning,
On a sunny Sunday morning
How I love the outdoors
but the rain just comes in downpours
Gaze at all the flowers
That I’m trying to grow
In spite all the showers
All those seeds I’ve got to sow
Is this the way to find the photo?
That was taken oh, so long ago
Whacky chat and moonlight photo
And friends and fun that wait for me
Show me the way to find the photo
You’d be mad if you don’t follow
Crying over moonlight photo
And friends and fun that wait for me
Gee Oh why oh why oh why why
Gee Oh why oh why oh why why
Gee Oh why oh why oh why why
And all those friends who wait for me

11 Feb, 2011
Well, yes you're all right, there is loads to look forward to. I shall try to adjust my moany face! Sticki, your garden is looking so lovely!
11 Feb, 2011
sorry shirley ~ i had the same problem ~ i did try to use something different but this worked best.
11 Feb, 2011
that was march last year karen ~ yes snowdrops still out in march ~ everything was much later last year. this year has been tough but spring is earlier than last year!!
11 Feb, 2011
Don't apologise Sticki ... we've just watched a TV programme on Reggae music ... so now I have a very strange mix of songs in my head ... nothing new there then! Forgot to say earlier, your garden looks lovely. : o ))
11 Feb, 2011
thanks shirley ~ not quite as bright at the moment ~ wasnt on GoY when i took that one ~ now i will have to try even harder cos everyone has amazing gardens on here.
you could do a reggae chant shirley?
11 Feb, 2011
Oh no my 10yr old daughter sang along with this and now that's all I'm going to hear this weekend! I shall have to make sure I'm out of the way finding things to do in the garden despite the rain.
11 Feb, 2011
oh no! thats not good ~ sorry mandy.
oh well ~ garden will benefit!
11 Feb, 2011
Well I remember Tony Christie, and he's made a comeback too! Great blog and great song Sticki, lovely to dance to, and I'll probly be singing it to the plants tomorrow!
Just put in your plants and sing to them..they will grow their socks off for you, wait and see..and then lap up all the ooohs and aahhhhs
Hey Sheilabub I watched that programme to..fascinating, but I switched off when it got to Madness..the Police werent bad but that I couldnt tolerate. However I DO love the original reggae
11 Feb, 2011
thanks for the tip tet ~ perhaps the plants wont mind the tune sticking in their heads??
forgot to tell you all and wish i had a good photo but yesterday painter was just finishing off in our new extension; then i noticed there was a bit of plaster that didnt look right in the ceiling ~ apparantly it had 'popped' when electrian put lights in. anyway the painter very kindly offered to put it right for me. however, as he stepped down from the ceiling ~ yes you guessed it ~ classic comedy ~ he stepped into the paint bucket.
one ruined trainer later and the decorator goes home in my old sock [clean!!] and a plastic bag over his foot!!!!
11 Feb, 2011
That had OH and me in stitches!
11 Feb, 2011
Must go back and find the whole song - you did a great job, Sticki - it fits perfectly. Another one for the GoY choir. :-)
11 Feb, 2011
Brilliant blog and great lyrics too, Sticki! had me chuckling away here like a good'un....This Goy choir building by the week, Beattie!!! lol\0/x
11 Feb, 2011
:D :D That was fun ! :o))
12 Feb, 2011
At least that's knocked the other maddening song out of my head that was infuriating me all day yesterday! I'd recently found 'Call Me Madam' on TV so I'd been driven mad by "You don't need analysing, it is not so surprising that you feel very strange inside ....' all sung in Ethel Merman's foghorn voice!
12 Feb, 2011
Very good Sticki, can't wait to see the picture at the top ablaze with colour.
12 Feb, 2011
glad you liked that story tet ~ thinking of putting up photo of painted trainer ~ framed in lounge!
thank you beattie, flori, hywel, nariz and LL ~ you make it all worth while!!!
i love being on here.
12 Feb, 2011
Not me, Tet, it was Sh- Shirley watching the Reggae!!
12 Feb, 2011
Ah -- this is the Moonies retreat then-- very good Sticki-- couldn't decide if the painter i reminded me of 'eric sykes' or ( showing my age altho I was very young ) Mr Pastry........
12 Feb, 2011
Classic comedy at your house then, Sticki! I hope he didn't feel too daft ..... Tet, the reggae programme reminded me of 'back in the day' when curly perms were fashionable, late 70's/early 80's, I couldn't afford the perm & colour so I 'paid' the hairdresser ( a part-time DJ) with some of my Ska vinyl.. what a fool ... worth a small fortune to a collector now. : o (((
12 Feb, 2011
lovely garden there Sticki, and such a lovely song,
12 Feb, 2011
Oh what a terrible deal Shirley..sorry called you Sheilab but it was late last night! My friends brother taught me how to dance reggae partner style, you know, one leg in between the other's leg..was extremely suggestive back then but a great dance and even better music..yes ska would be the big collecting thing now it was wonderful to hear it all again..
12 Feb, 2011
Lol, Tet, I remember that dance style! I should ask him for the records back ... he used to have a salon in The Lanes in Brighton and DJ'd at the Zap club ... I would imagine both the salon and the club are no more ! A friend of mine still has every piece of vinyl she ever bought ... and that goes back to about the mid 60's!
12 Feb, 2011
lovely garden you have there, no wonder you are celebrating with a song;0))
12 Feb, 2011
Singing along here Sticki, its mega stuck in my head, I prefer Tony Christie version, Peter Kaye winds me up I`m afraid, I`ll have to memorise your words now ready for lawn cutting,LOL..
Poor painter, hope you didn`t laugh until he`d gone, he`ll be charging for his trainers else.
The garden looks a treat.....
12 Feb, 2011
Probly Sticki's fault for batting those big eyes at him...Maybe you should check the extension Sticki..all those meals too...lol!
12 Feb, 2011
We certainly are waiting Gee Oh! Sticki. I remember Mr Pastry too!!!
13 Feb, 2011
you are very naughty tet! i did not bat any eyes at him but yes lincslass i did laugh !
we didnt have a tv when mr pastry was on ~ the children at school used to talk about him and i imagined a little dough man?
13 Feb, 2011
My my my Delilah! LOL
13 Feb, 2011
Um no Sticki--- I can't remember very well but I do remember a lot of slapstick fun--- must 'google ' him....
13 Feb, 2011
Lovely photo of the garden. The sun's started to make an appearance in our garden, too, much to our whippet's delight (he chases any patch of sunshine he can find and tries to lie down on it). Bring on the growing season!

15 Feb, 2011
Hi City S, on behalf of Sticki, whose presently kna..tired. Welcome to the madhouse. We are just getting over the winter blues and have all got a touch of sun so bear with us till spring finally, officially here and we will sober up!
Yorkie, are you about? Ive come here for some peace and quiet..got a bottle..Ba and Bloomer chuntering on (lovely word chuntering..) about eyebrows and moustaches and puckering kissing lips..god knows what they are up to! Its on your Full Moon Tonight page. Thought I would let you know the full extent of the invasion!!
15 Feb, 2011
Your whippet sounds a right character CityS, he's obviously a sunlover..ohh for some sun! ...you are very right about the growing season..let it come soon before this site goes completely doolally!
Do post some pics of your pooch and garden..oh you may have dont already..must go and check.
15 Feb, 2011
perhaps we should have pictures of the sun on here so we dont forget what it looks like!!
the moon pictures had a certain effect on some!!
what would the sun do?
15 Feb, 2011
Dont suggest that Sticki, Ba's noses would get burned, Bloomer's eyebrows frazzled and Yorkie's beer might evaporate..then where would we be? Australia far enough??
15 Feb, 2011
another planet?
15 Feb, 2011
Hi Ho Apollo, away!!
16 Feb, 2011
long as its not the one beginning with U!!
16 Feb, 2011
LOL! glad you didnt come out with that one yesterday!!!!
16 Feb, 2011
i do my best in polite society!!!
16 Feb, 2011

16 Feb, 2011
Very good! :-)
16 Feb, 2011
Thats a constellation Pamg, where are your wits gone beggin girl! We cant be a dozen places at once..tho we dont do bad on here do we lol!
16 Feb, 2011
but the constellation is made up of galaxy hmmmm.... sidetracked .... a moment for a chocaholic
16 Feb, 2011
i know more about galaxy than stars; no objection to ursa!!
16 Feb, 2011
and the milky way -- via mars?
16 Feb, 2011
thats the way! what a trip that would be.
16 Feb, 2011
Wow your garden is lovely it is beautifully laid out and very pretty :)
16 Feb, 2011
All this talk of galaxy mars and milky way is making me crave chocolate! lol! :-)
16 Feb, 2011
I refuse to listen!!!
16 Feb, 2011
thanks jewells ~ not down to me ~ mostly previous owners. they put some nice plants in.
i have a chocolate cosmos that i particularly like tetra!!
16 Feb, 2011
Ahhh dont Sticki...Ive already had a Crunchie today..first choc for several weeks (I think!)..and Im really craving something sweet right now..not going to Tesco this time of night tho!
17 Feb, 2011
did you hear that we could see the Aurora-- it says north of the country but you never know-- saw it once here in the midlands--- magical!
17 Feb, 2011
i would love to see the aurora, i would be so happy i would have to eat a crunchie ~ love em!!
17 Feb, 2011
they make my tongue sore as I try to make them last longer.......
17 Feb, 2011
i just like the crunch.
oh yes and that smoooooooth chocolate.
17 Feb, 2011
back to Galaxy--- my favorite at the moment.....
I made a chocolate & banana trifle last weekend using strong coffee ( and a little rum) on the sponge and it was nice but the next day I thought the flavours were even better -- but it didn't look as pretty!
17 Feb, 2011
how do you make it? it sounds very good ~ bananas not my favourite but the coffee rum and chocolate would more than make up for that!!!
17 Feb, 2011
HiSticki--simply soaked the trifle sponge in a strong black coffee lightly laced with rum then put on the fruit-- use any you like --raspberries may work-- then poured a chocolate custard over-- cocoa and extra dark choc stirred in then when cold topped with whipped creab ( I used semi skim milk and elmlea light-- so I felt quite virtuous!)
it was squash risotto last night and chilli tonight
oh -- hope they don't notice-- thats two rice meals......
17 Feb, 2011
that sounds very tempting! thank you!
surely they wont notice ~ one vegetarian and one meat?
im doing lamb tonight ~ chops ~ not my favourite but the recipe sounded nice ~ marinaded in red wine vinegar and redcurrant jelly.
17 Feb, 2011
if i'm in a hurry I marinade in mint sauce from a jar, cook them with stock and make minted gravy-- on mashed potatoes-- quick and tasty
have a nice evening xxx
17 Feb, 2011
mmmm very tasty.
nothing exciting planned and nothing on tv
17 Feb, 2011
Hey Sticki, remember, Pam did say LIGHTLY laced with rum..and dont give the recipe to Yorkie, she's already in rehab I think..
17 Feb, 2011
I watched Kate Humble in the spice islands---- I sort of knew cinnamon was tree bark and pepper was a bean but quite fascinating
18 Feb, 2011
anyone watch Madagascar--- wow
18 Feb, 2011
Gotchya! here you are taking my name in vain. Lovely garden Sticki and clever words, but no mention of Stourhead...I see now where your loyalty lies:-(. Just think how lovely your garden would look with some lemurs ;-) I saw Madagascar, fantastic and I want one of those teeny weeny miniscule lemurs that climb reeds. Fancy that trifle too :-)
18 Feb, 2011
have you got a lemur for my garden? that would be just perfect.
if i could have just a bit of stourhead in my garden that would be a bonus ~ can you arrange that too BA?
do you mean the cartoon madagascar?
18 Feb, 2011
I wouldnt mind ALL of Stourhead in my garden!
18 Feb, 2011
no sticki David Attenborough on a wednesday night-- its a island that when it broke away from the mainland the plants and animals evolved differently to anywherelse in the world, the lemurs only live on madagascar and those that Ba mentioned only live on one area of reeds on one lake on the island.......
18 Feb, 2011
oh sorry, didnt fancy the cartoon and didnt realise there was another - thanks pam - i will look out for that.
