Homelea Farm Hellebore Nursery

Dropped into a Hellebore Nursery as a favour to a fellow GOY member today. The Nursery was quite small and a little ramshackled. We managed to find the owner pottering away around the back and he was obviously a Hellebore enthusiast. He was very helpful and directed us to Penny’s Pink, the Hellebore the member was interested in. He also told us that he had crossed Penny’s Pink and that next year there will be a new variety called Anna’s Red.

Here is the address if any one is interested.
R D Plants:
Homelea Farm, Tytherleigh, Axminster, Devon, 01460 220206. Open Feb-July (9am-5pm). Specialty: hellebores and other perennials.

Price for Penny’s Pink was £18
Unfortunately there is no mail order

Teds thank you. it is a lovely pink you did not say if there were any purchases.

I was very tempted Bjs, I only have a very small garden so I have to be selective. I may get one for a pot on Teds Corner (car port) once I have sorted it out this summer. There were lots to choose from I like the doubles best.

That was very kind of you, to go to the nursery so that someone may now, add a little treasure to their garden. Every time the plant flowers, they will think of you!

We were happy to help Helenium! and I love looking around nurseries. We popped into the local pub to have lunch so we had a very nice day out.

Lovely pink hellebore...bit pricey...wait until next year?

They are lovely with such a delicate pink colour....they sound expensive but I guess as they take so much care to get to the stage of maturity in your photo, it is an ok price.

I'll probably have to wait until I'm a bit more experienced before purchasing the "expensive" end of too many plants although I do so love the helebores :)

You're very kind to help a fellow member. I hope she/he will return the compliment. I have the feeling many just 'take' and never 'give'

Hywel! the member has kindly offered me plants they have lovingly grown them selves. I had a lovely day out to a nursery and we hand lunch in a pub. :)

Whistonlass! I think that Penny's Pink was quite rare so hence the price. I think the more run of the mill retail at around £7 to £10 :)

That's good then, because some are so selfish

Thanks for the additional info Teds (re prices).

That's a beautiful pink. There is a mail order hellebore nursery here but I've avoided looking at the website - I certainly don't need the temptation!
