THE GRASS IS GREENER.....

Im getting the pre-winter blues
And the flowers are losing their hues
I think its called SAD
Well – it makes me feel bad
I think I should go on a cruise
Just to lay in the sun all day long
With a chap sat there singing a song
Playing softly, guitar..or perhaps a sitar
I quite fancy me in a sarong!
Or perhaps I should sail down the Nile
See the pyramids sitting in style
In a buggy, horse drawn
In the cool of the dawn
Eating breakfast of dates all the while
Maybe Greece is much more my thing
Sat by blue seas sipping gin sling
I could visit Corfu
Meet with Alexandramou
Have coffee and buy some swish bling
But Id soon yearn for trees and fields green
Cos I know that wherever Ive been
I cant wait to come home
No matter how much I moan
England really is much more my scene
So Ill put up with grey days and cold
Tho it gets to my bones now Im old
For spring soon will be here
and Ill change up a gear
When the sun comes to wrap me in gold

That's really clever Tet!

Clever! Your reference to 'grey days and cold' reminded me that Partner visits a website about Spanish flora and fauna and was puzzled to read in blogs that someone was soon going to 'log.' It transpired that it meant 'land of grey' and meant Britain!

That was good :o) Nice to daydream about the summer and warm places.
I like the winter myself (except when it snows) It's a time to wind down and rest a bit

Have just read your news,
about having a cruise,
pack up your case,
and meet us in Palma,
We'll head for climes'
that we hope will be warmer :o).
Cities in Spain,I'm sure you'll agree.
Temperatures pleasant, and so much to see..
Can you be ready for Thursday, tet?

Great poem Tet! :)
22 Oct, 2011
Oh no Tet forget about Spain
come to Greece and have coffee with me
We could sit by the sea watch the waves crashing in
and the sun will take your chills away.
Loved your poem....made my morning coffee even better.

Oh Bloomer!
The cities of Spain are a magnetic draw
When I think of the sights in Seville that I saw,
The Alhambra, Granada, Cordoba, what bliss
Madrid, the Basque Country is not to be missed..
Barcelona, Pamplona..and yet there is more
For Toledo, Avila Compostela I yearn for
Canaria's Palma also I've never seen,
Can you tell its cathedrals that I really dream
of..my love for these buildings are a fixation,
Hang on girl, I'll meet you at Paddington Station!
Thanks Sticki, Pixi. Hywel, I think about winding down, but I soon get bored and itch to get back to the garden!
Bamboo, Im glad you enjoyed it..lets hope winter comes well and goes quickly!
Nariz, that really is an odd expression, fog maybe cos its often cloudy but log? mmmm! The land of log lol!!

Well done Tetrarch ~
Six good verses... very lyrical ...
... full of rhyme and very funny ...
Winter ? ... we pray for a miracle ..
... mild and calm and warm and sunny ;o)

Alex, I did think it was time to hang up my travelling shoes, but my friend keeps nagging on to go to Prague..so guess we will next year. And this poem just came out of nowhere, so to speak, I guess I still have the bug so maybe 2013 will be Corfu year..somewhere completely new, a less "European" culture, tho must admit I wish I could visit the cities I learned about during my Greek Civilisation lessons at school. Shouldve done it years ago when it was less commercialised tho.

Thanks TT. I dont mind winter too much as long as it only lasts a couple of months..last year it was four and a half months..far too long!! And I would miss those pictures of Conker and Truffle having fun in the snow (and all the other Goyer pets too)
22 Oct, 2011
Lol. Truffle is already not liking the colder days ...
.. maybe he needs a knitted coat ...
Shorter winters would certainly help to reduce the heating bills !
22 Oct, 2011
By the sound of the news coming from the energy sector I guess all we can hope for is to keep the bills level..cant see them going down! Truffle certainly looked good in that knitted outfit I saw him in not too long ago lol!
22 Oct, 2011
Lol..
This winter, striped leggings are a fashion MUST ;o)

Lovely poem, I enjoyed it, well said.
I love to travel but I don't get much of a chance. I'd follow the sun around the world if I could, the sun and I are great friends but I hate the cold. I did spend 4 longggg summers and part of a winter in Greece and lovvvved it. So if your heading to Greece I'll meet you there. :-)
I would highly recommend Greece and it's people. I'd go back any day as they were the best times of my life! So far anyway!

;)) Nice poem....that's the way I feel too. But the last line....'when' could be substituted with 'if' for Scotland I fear! :))
22 Oct, 2011
absolutely brilliant, clever you, I loved reading this poem,
22 Oct, 2011
Thanks Angie..many more to come Im sure!
Karen, it really shouldve been "These islands" but I then I should change the title ...and Great Britain isnt so poetic!
Bless you Yorkie..you are very kind (misguided perhaps..but kind lol!)
22 Oct, 2011
'Oh, no sensitivity about that from me Tet! :)) Poetry has to be poetic, not 'geographically accurate and politically correct! :))
22 Oct, 2011
Im not so worried about political correctness Karen but I regret the slow demise of "Britain", mainly cos Im half Scot (my dad was Glaswegian) and my main roots are North and Southern Irish with a big dash of Yorkshire and a dab of Welsh..its hard to fix my so-called loyalties cos I want all parts to succeed lol!
22 Oct, 2011
Brilliant Tet, I got the giggles!!
Sarong in the post!
22 Oct, 2011
Hope you didnt run out of money buying miles of material lol!
22 Oct, 2011
Thanks you wicked girl..I can just see what you imagined LOL!!!
22 Oct, 2011
Got the giggles about the whole poem.........So saying I have 22 meters of cotton velvet which I was going to use for the stall, might not need it now....expensive mistake, am right Teed off!
22 Oct, 2011
Now it would make me a nice winter sarong lol! Thats quite a boo-boo Lou...No good for a nice heavy door curtain for the winter months?
22 Oct, 2011
why am I mis guided please tet
22 Oct, 2011
22 meters !Tet! Big door!!
Am fed up with the whole saga of selling art. With the currant climate.................
22 Oct, 2011
Poets Corner next stop. Well done Tetra, I loved it..
22 Oct, 2011
Great verse Tet . . . you've made me smile, and I agree: love to travel, but love to get back home. If you've not been to Greece(?) do try Crete or Corfu - both great places with friendly natives, and plenty of unspoilt parts.
22 Oct, 2011
great verses Tetra, well done and exactly how i feel, always miss home no matter how nice it is abroad :o)
22 Oct, 2011
Brilliant poem Tet, I'm always itching to get back home if I go anywhere. :o)) Seems like a lot of us feel the same.
22 Oct, 2011
Oh multi talented Margo, you are a marvel.:0)))
22 Oct, 2011
Didnt find it Val..bummer that, but no harm done I dont think. Thanks for the compliment O Greenfingered Catwoman lol!
Yorkie, you flatter me unduly..would love to have been a real poet, but my wicked sense of humour gets in the way...thats why Pam Ayres is my hero!
Thanks Lily, Sanbaz...yes guess we are married to our gardens..and Sheilabub, we might yet get to Corfu..half promised Alex..
Now then Lulu, you also have the blues..will have to think of a ditty to cheer you up. I do know how you feel..when I had the shops and used to buy really great fabrics driving hard bargains and then struggled to make sales at tight prices, I used to think "what do I have to do to get people to buy"...and art is so subjective (think Ive got it the right way around)..but it only takes one good piece in the right place (and the that home having the right connections) and suddenly you wont have time to sniff! Patience my dear..thought about teaching the art? Classes?
Meanwhile, I will progress with my ditty...
22 Oct, 2011
Oops, nearly missed you Lincslass..Maybe not Poets Corner but would love to end up like Glam Pam..laughing all the way to Doggerel Bank lol!
22 Oct, 2011
i absolutely loved this poem, i hate the winter and the dark nights, and already i can't wait for spring to come back.
23 Oct, 2011
Pam Eyers, now she is fab too!
23 Oct, 2011
Well done Tet, how clever of you. loved it.
26 Oct, 2011

26 Oct, 2011

26 Oct, 2011
