Hello everyone,
I’ve just returned from two weeks away in Cyprus, partly to celebrate a particular birthday. I will catch up with everyone eventually! Meanwhile here are some pics of the flora and wildlife in Cyprus to keep you going…

It may not be obvious in this picture, but there are Quail in the road. They just continued to run ahead of us for ages before finally taking off in low flight, into the wheat fields.

Poor quality pic I know, but this wild lamb just stopped and stared at us so I just had to take her pic. The other pic is of mum, who completely ignored us!

Just noticed how many pics I’ve posted, so I’ll stop for now…hope you’re all well!!

Thanks everyone.

Yes Sheila, they are Jacarandas, well done! I collected a couple of seeds when we were in Cyprus 3 years ago and I now have my own bit of Cyprus here :)

Hi Sandra, thank you for the card. The Quail were very cute, but ran too fast to get a better picture lol!

Very colorful & spectacular scenery. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation. The mountains are breathtaking.

Thanks Julia . . . I'm so glad you managed to germinate your Jacaranda seeds. I did the same last year and my 'tree' is now about 8" tall. Have you had a flower on yours?? That would be amazing.

What wonderful flowers - you must have been in your element! Whatever are the toadstool shaped ones 10 from the top?

How lovely! That brought back so many memories for me. I absolutely loved our holidays in Cyprus and would go back quite happily. You went at a great time of year for seeing all the lovely wild flowers Julia....great decision! :)

I heard you were going to Cyprus and am so pleased that you have added these lovely, rich colourful photos.
It looks as if it was very hot out there and I bet the air was filled with the scent of herbs up in the mountains. So glad you saw such a variety of plants and met that sweet little lamb!

Paul, thank you and you're absolutely right. I've lost count of the number of times we both exclaimed 'wow! By-the-way, the Handmaiden's Tale was dramatised on UK T.V. a few days ago. I have to say I didn't enjoy it, but perhaps others saw it and did?

Sheila, mine is about 2 ft tall now, but no flowers yet...I live in hopes!

Thank you TT and Amy...yes back to normality :0)

Steragram,... Yes I was and hope to go back in the near future perhaps in April when I'm told I'll see even more wild flowers. As for number 10, I wish I knew. I was hoping someone here would know..

Wow - that's terrific. Maybe they take years to flower(?) like Wisteria . . . don't give up hoping!

Thanks Karen. We didn't manage to get to California Falls, (perhaps next time) but did visit the new Troodos Botanic Gardens, which although in their infancy show lots of promise. We also drove through Cedar Valley which was quite breathtaking.

Linclass; Thank you..actually they are wild sheep, although they do look more like goats I grant you lol!

2 Jun, 2017

Wildrose; Thank you...yes it was hot and the perfume from the broom which was in full flower was quite heady. Not good for anyone with hay fever.

2 Jun, 2017

Sheila; I'm not too sure. We did see some quite small ones in flower as well as huge tree too. I got talking to a lady in a GC (GC, me?) and she told me that is I kept it in the greenhouse over winter and didn't allow the temperature to drop below -1 it should be ok...we will see. We have to remember I suppose that not only do we not get temperatures as hot as they are in Cyprus, but our season is also a lot shorter.

Wonderful scenery Waddy, good of you to share it.

3 Jun, 2017

You're welcome Stroller, just hope I didn't bore you too much.

3 Jun, 2017

Wow Julia - that is useful info from the GC. I've kept mine in the greenhouse so far, and that's where it will stay . . . thank you! Luckily my greenhouse doesn't go below 10 degrees, possibly because it's wooden(?).

3 Jun, 2017

Do you bring it out in the summer Sheila? I have done mine so far.

4 Jun, 2017

Not so far, but I'm sure I could risk it now . . .

4 Jun, 2017

I brought mine out just before we went away at the beginning of May but did throw some fleece over it. Usually it gets brought out about mid-May and it stands in the sunniest place possible. The lady in the GC said it only needs to be watered about twice a week and a light feed of something like tomato feed every two weeks.

4 Jun, 2017

Thanks. I really should feed my precious plants.
