Another challenge

I think hubby and I are definitely technically challenged! I ordered a Hozelock KillaSpray Plus 5L and it’s duly arrived…all well and good…until we took it from it’s box and looked at the diagrams! Oh dear…..trouble, double trouble….

No written instructions is a challenge for us anyhow….but trying to work out the pictured instructions is just not going as it should!! Luckily we haven’t fallen out as yet. We’re in our lounge surounded by packing material and a sprayer in pieces. Oh the joy!

When I see on here that many of you construct water fountains, ponds, sheds, patios and what have you I wonder how something like a sprayer could defeat us.

I’ve emailed Hozelock in the hope that one of their customer service reps will talk us through the assembly….how sad is that? lol

The garden saga continues. Fencing contractor coming tonight to give us a quote so things are slowly moving along :)

Oh No!! I hate putting things together without instructions - pictures just don't do it for me. Think you might be there for a long time, just make a cuppa and have a good scratch of the head and maybe just maybe it might all come to you.

Maybe, as a special favour, the Fencing Contractor will put the hozelock kit together for you ... ;o)

You sound like me. I'm clueless when it comes to gadgets and puting things together :o( lol.
Or maybe I am just clueless ......

Hilarious W.Lass I can imagine you surrounded by bits and pieces and wondering which bit goes where, I leave those things to my OH and usually go shopping !!! Think we need to see a photo of the finished product ! Lol

16 Sep, 2010

lol...the finished product is just not happening, GM.....We've both said why can't they put printed instructions and not just diagrams?!!!! It's back in the box to be taken out again later....the instructions will probably still be as clear as mud! eek!

The fencing contractor has been and he was surveying our back 40....and started making suggestions straight away about the concrete flags being relocated onto the old cement adjoining the house, putting down thick membrane and destroying the weeds.

I've told him....one thing at a time....fence and gate first (providing the quote is favourable) and we'll go from there. I did mention the hozelock sprayer but I never got a response....lol Guess I didn't flutter my eyelashes enough....lol

oh dear know what you mean intructions are a nightmare in some products i agree, i get to ratty and leave it to baz but if you both cant make head nor tail it must be bad, hope someone gets in touch soon, i would have come right out and asked him Wlass lol but that me,good luck ;o))

16 Sep, 2010

You are really brave, San....I'm too chicken to ask for favours. I'm the "plant the idea in the head" kinda gal....and hope for a favourable response. lol

16 Sep, 2010

I reckon the Fencing Contractor didn't want to admit he's got a Hozelock kit at home which he can't fix together....... ;o) Lol.

16 Sep, 2010

lol be assurtive it gets you everywhere hahah
lol Terra could well be haha

16 Sep, 2010

Oh dear - I have to admit that OH does things like that - I just can't! I hope you get it fixed up. :-))

16 Sep, 2010

Having just read some reviews on this product, you'll be pleased to know that "after tricky assembly with unclear diagrams, especially the strap, the product works well, not actually 5 litres, in reality it's 3 litres ! " Good luck with the assembly. : o ))))

16 Sep, 2010

LOL..I have gone online to see exactly what you have there...and all I can say is...don't let Frank Spencer anywhere near...LOL

16 Sep, 2010

Only 3 litres and just the strap is tricky! It gets worse! lol CF, they say two's company (hubby & I) and three's a crowd (so no...Frank Spencer won't get a look in!

Actually, ST, the strap looks the most uncomplicated of the lot!

Anyhow, it's been relegated to it's box for tonight....tomorrow's another day! Maybe, just maybe, things will work out better in the morning? A lady can dream :)

16 Sep, 2010

Do you have an 8 year old child handy ? They're brilliant at that sort of thing !

16 Sep, 2010

Well...I've got a grandchild (one of 4) who is 8 yrs. old...and my best friend has just returned from the USA with 2 boxes of "Lucky Charms" cereal for our grandkids (their favourite cereal from Canada/USA) so maybe that'd work for a bribe! I'll have to give this some serious consideration....lol

Yeah...my goodness, ST....you do have some great ideas! :)

16 Sep, 2010

LOL ! !

16 Sep, 2010

Lucky Charms! I will be right over! dooon't throw away those diagrams...yum...little pink marshmallow hearts and green marshmallow clovers.... oooooooh goodness..where are my reading glasses....shoes.....wait..wait...shoot...don't know my way around the UK yet....would have to walk in the dark...little windy and wet....crumbs... :o( guess the kids get the Lucky charms........sigh...

16 Sep, 2010

I'd come round and fix it for you if I could get there before your eight year old cracks it. I have 2 C.Eng.'s in the house and I'm afraid those picture instructions are for people like me. The number of times I have to instruct these brainy people how to do it from the diagrams is not canny. I'm sitting here killing myself. Sorry Whistonlass but it is so typical of scenarios in our house.

16 Sep, 2010

Catfinch & Scotsgran....you've got me laughing. Just read your replies and it's 1.10am!!! so I'm a bit past it....too late.

CF....what's with your obsession with Lucky Charms? You'll need running shoes to get here quick enough to nab 'em. The grandkids will be here on the weekend to demolish (i.e. eat!!) em up...lol I'm not hedging my bets on Matty, our 8 yr. old grandson....I reckon Josh, our 10 yr. old might just crack the instructions...he's a lego man after all!

Well SG....you're pretty smart then if you can follow diagrams.....I just have to see everything in print (B & W) and even then it's pretty challenging.

Here's to tomorrow (oh no....it's today actually...now 1.15am!!)...another day, another attempt at the old assembly line!

17 Sep, 2010

I didn't like to say I'm better at reading for effect too. Lol. I am still laughing. Not so much at your predicament as at the weird and wonderful things my 'experts' have built and I have had to redesign using the diagrams and/or handbook supplied. Don't let me near anything electronic, then they come in to their own.

17 Sep, 2010

I've had a reply to my enquiry at Hozelock....they've recommended YTube as there are some instructional videos there apparently....so off to take a look in a mo. Alternately they've given me a phone number where an advisor will talk me through the assembly.

Wish me luck!

17 Sep, 2010

A progress report....

No video on YT that explains the procedure but the phone call to a lovely, patient (!!!) advisor at Hozelock and about 10 minute on the phone and hey, presto....one assembled KillaSpray.

Going out to organize the weedkiller mix and gonna zap those b*****s of brambles. I'll be back....if gone for too long....just send out a search party (after they've found Hywel's glasses...lol)....I'm next!
To be continued....

So....now rain clouds are threatening ....can it get better? lol So we're off to the garden centre for a browse and some potting soil for my containers. Gotta get something done, it's driving me nuts! Need dry conditions before and after the spraying!

17 Sep, 2010

Have fun W.Lass. `=0)

17 Sep, 2010

Well done I hope you are going to do a blog on how you did it - for hozelock - so they can change their leaflet. At great expense to them naturally.

17 Sep, 2010

Hooray ! So pleased you've assembled it, good luck with your GC shopping.

17 Sep, 2010

Back home again.....got my potting compost and hubby is going to drill holes in my containers which I "uncovered" in our not-to-tidy garage a day or two ago. Then I'll plant up my violas for instant colour :)

I so wanted to get other plants/bushes etc. but realize it just isn't a good idea to do that now....better to wait until the garden is cleared and borders placed. I'll just have to be patient, ST. You're all so encouraging...I'll get there!

SG....I said we got the thing together....what I didn't say is that I probably wouldn't remember how to do it all again! lol I am responding to their email today and I'll suggest that they get a video of instruction for this product up on YT. They have a few for other of their products so why not this one?

Upwards and onwards...

17 Sep, 2010

Well done Whistonlass and Hubby glad you made it up successfully, be patient with the planting it will pay off in the long run.

17 Sep, 2010

And the sprayer works a treat. Ran out of daylight hours tonight so only managed to get about 2/3 of the weeds sprayed....back at it tomorrow if it remains dry! Fingers crossed.

17 Sep, 2010

Go girl go - zap those weeds

18 Sep, 2010

Glad to hear you got your sprayer sorted out.It made me laugh reading your blog. good luck in the long run it will pay off.

19 Sep, 2010

Still only 2/3 done as the rain hasn't eased at all! So I'm cruising around GOY waiting for the grandchildren et al to arrive with more rocks for me...another freebie :) Well sort of free....daughter has picked them up for me and I'm supplying spaghetti bolognese (vegetarian & regular) with garlic bread for all of us to enjoy!

Glad the blog had you laughing, Michelle.
