ANNIVERSARY DAY OUT & A PRESENT...

As I mentioned in one of my comments on our Anniversary blog we took a drive to Southport and mooched around collector/antique shops and walked along Lord Street (the main shopping street).

‘The Morris Dancers’ pub in Scarisbrook where we stopped for a meal on our way home…

A lovely bench (a present from our daughter, son-in-law and our 4 grandchildren)…

_~ and we didn’t even have to put the bench together as Bryn and Brenda (daughter and son-in-law) put it all together and took away the packaging! We are very happy with our bench and it was a lovely surprise.

This morning we had 1 ton of topsoil delivered so tomorrow we will be working on the borders to loosen the compacted soil and then get busy spreading the newly arrived topsoil in the area where I’ll be putting my small shade-cum-rockery garden. Another project to sink our teeth into.

That's a lovely thoughtful present,you can never have enough places to sit in the garden. Happy Anniversary too! I've not been on for a few days so it might be a bit belated.. A tonne of topsoil to move!! It's hard work but enjoyable too when you see it all in your borders looking fresh and lovely, just don't over do it..

Cristina...no we didn't visit Sandra...but she is near Blackpool so a bit further to travel than Southport. Thanks for your 'like' comments on our present...it's a warm one out there today and we're off out now to tackle the weeding and topsoil!

I think our bench will be used today for mini-breaks as we tend the garden :)

lovely bench jacquie, how nice of them, i love southport, we go now and again, i love that huge collectors shop, antiques etc at the top end is that where you went, they have fab things for the garden, i got my bird cage there, must go this year some time :o)

Yes, San....it is the same shop you like...two/three floors. There wasn't as much merchandise there this time as when we visited a few months ago. Lots of furniture.

We looked but didn't buy...nothing just jumped out at us and said "buy me"...lol

Still an enjoyable look about...Southport is always a nice place to visit.

Thanks TT, Gee, Sue and Shirley :) Yes, the bench was a lovely surprise for us and I'm sure it will be used a lot when the grandchildren visit....extra seating :)
