The Algarve in March.

In March, we had a short holiday in Portugal.
As the weather here is so miserable and cold at the moment, I decided to have another look at the holiday photos so that I can share some warmth and sunshine and flowers with you!
We were staying close to this pretty beach which, with its Atlantic waves, was like being in Cornwall on a sunny day!
This is the village of Alte which is up in the hills away from the coast.
There were some charming features which made it a very pleasant place to be.
A lovely use of tiling – whoops! This might come out sideways!
Orange trees near the water.
The neglected garden of a derelict house up in the hills.
The well cared for gardens of a house in the same village!
I am now hoping for real spring like weather to find us in the UK!!
P.S.
Hopefully the right way up this time!!

Steragram, I am sorry but I can't work out what the pink flowers are. How lovely to find wild freesias, I think they are my favourite flower.
Bloomer, which way up is the first picture of the tiles? Just wondering if my message was necessary!
Meadowland, the temperature to start with was about 21 degrees but the evenings were cool. The last few days turned cloudier and the temperature dropped! They had an exceptionally good February this year.
Lauram and Amy - we need some better weather here now mainly because I am getting fed up!
Ba - my legs look so white on that picture!!! They are likely to stay that way for some time!
Thanks to all of you.

You lucky girl ... I love the Algarve and used to holiday at Alvor when it was a pretty little fishing village ... before it was refurbished for tourism! I recall walking from there to Praia da Luz ... wild Lupins all along the cliff tops and Butterflies all around ... wonderful holidays. You look very relaxed in the photo ... :o)

Well, you will get into all this techno lark,Chris..I only have the other kind of tablets :o) x

Shirley, Alvor has changed a lot since our first visit there, in fact I didn't recognise very much of it at all when we went back last year - too many people, but the sardines were just as tasty!!
The wild lupins were out in March looking so pretty. I love the colours in the cliffs, the rich colours of the soil are beautiful.
Sandra, I walked straight into that one didn't I?!!

What a delightful place, I don't blame you popping off for some warmth, still chilly here and this is the soft South lol love the photographs by the way.

Couldn't resist Chris ..sorry :o)

Chris, it's sad to see those small fishing villages swept up in the name of tourism! Goodness knows what the elderly residents must think of it all. :o(

It looks lovely Chris ! I wouldn't mind sorting that run down garden out ! Do they need a gardener ! hahaa!
Happy Easter and I'm sorry I haven't been in touch , but have been so busy . I shall do a blog soon showing what we've been doing. xxx

Dd, it was a nice little escape and was very relaxing and came at the right time. At last it seems to be improving here after a miserable spell of weather.
Shirley, I agree, not sure where the 'real' Portugal is. Probably well away from the Algarve! The beaches are still lovely though and the flowers too!
Rose, lovely to see you again! That neglected garden appealed to me too and just a bit of DIY needed on the little house.....well, quite a lot really! I am looking forward to your blog.

You have changed ,Chris,to a blushing pink ! Lol..x

Time for a change and as I am so shy and retiring and blush so easily I decided on something pink!!!
It is our new Camelia ' Donation' which has done very well so far.

Oh, takes me right back! Lovely - bet you didn't want to come home... I found wild freesias on dunes like those, in February too. The pic of you sitting by the river is stunning - do you know what the pink flowers are?
