Early October flowers

It is the time when the Naked Lady group of flowers is starting to open. The Rodophiala bifida has managed to fill its vase. Several years ago, I started with just 3 bulbs, and now it is a great show.

Then the Nerines have been putting up stems. The unnamed one came off really well:

Nerine ‘Ramases’ is proving hard to photograph as the stripes it has are more clear in real life. It is one that I moved into a raised bed, hoping it will be less work.

Then there is what will be one of the highlights of this year, Nerine ‘Amschel’. Two very bold colors set it apart.

Since the Amaryllis belladonnas and Nerines are open, so is the cross of these two, the xAmarine. It is tall like an Amaryllis, and the flowers are slightly smaller.

They're all beautiful Wylie but the Rodophilia is my favourite here.

Thanks! The Rodophiala is native to the south end of South America, and is in the Amaryllidiceae family. They aren't large, only 2" across. I just got a bulb that is pink, so hopefully next year there will start to be a mix.

Beautiful colours! I especially like the deeper hued ones, Wylie.
