Morrisons Today

Hi Everyone,
o.k. its nor a gardening blog but I just want to know if any of you have bought petrol today, and if so did you get it a penny cheaper, as you know we went down Soutth last week to a Funeral and before we left we went to Morrisons to fill up with petrol, we paid 128.90 per litre, we went to fill up today and it had gone up to 129.90 per litre, so when I went to pay I said, has the petrol gone up, mmmmaaammmaaa she went, well no its come down by a penny, I said its gone up a penny since last week, mmmmm she said, we put it up sometime last week but reduced it by a penny yesterday, in other words they put it up before the budget so they could bring it back down, what a con, anyway whilst I was there I bought two clematis, one is Niobe, dark red, the other Sylvia denny white,
Thats all folks, let me know if you have been ripped off with petrol.

24 Mar, 2011

o.k. Pam you got yours a penny less than us, well done, 133,9 is outrageous, but Sue, 139,9 was that the price of petrol,or diesel,

24 Mar, 2011

Times by 5 and thats how much it is a gallon these days, now thats shocking.

24 Mar, 2011

that makes what we paid £6,49 a gallon, disgusting,

24 Mar, 2011

what a con yorks.... i havnt got a car... dont think i could afford to run one now anyway..... glad you got your clematis they have some nice plants in there dont they....

24 Mar, 2011

Its 137 at my village garage. Shocking.

Clematis sound good, I have Niobe, its a good one.

24 Mar, 2011

Yorkshire that was petrol diesel is 141.9! I gave up my car last year. We only have one car now we could not afford to run mine now. I'm going to invest in rollerskates!

We paid £1.33/litre yesterday at Tesco. Hubby was funny as the pump kicked out early (before the tank was full) and after he'd paid for the petrol I asked him how much it was....he announced in his chipper voice £38.00...really pleased he was...

Turned the ignition and realized it was less than 3/4 full so the good feeling evaporated! It is getting very expensive to drive anywhere...I don't want to do it but we may be dragging out our pensioner's bus passes before long.

You did well with your plants, Yorks....softens the blow a bit eh? I really am excited about being able to purchase plants at all the bargain places in the near future, once our garden has its turf and borders in. :)

24 Mar, 2011

Gone by train today so didn't notice! I would notice Niobe though, lovely deep velvety red!

24 Mar, 2011

I will have to ask Hubby as I don't drive!

24 Mar, 2011

As I don`t drive I haven`t noticed myself but hubby is spitting feathers at the cost and what he says is not allowed on this site, needless to say he is wishing for another Guy Fawkes at the moment........

24 Mar, 2011

£133.9 at nearly everywhere round here; but i found one that had petrol at £132.9 ~ that was the day before the budget ~ havent checked today.

24 Mar, 2011

I paid about 128/129 2 weeks ago and then put £10 in this Monday 133.9 i gasped! then saw it was 132.9 today. I now need some more, so £10 lasted me 4 days!!

24 Mar, 2011

i only put £10 the first time when i realised how much it was ~ i hoped to find it cheaper ~ but only found 1p cheaper!

24 Mar, 2011

Sticki, thats why i put only £10 in on monday too, gonna try Asda tomorow but as you say probably only about 1p cheaper, but Asda usually about 2/3 p cheaper so we'll see.

24 Mar, 2011

OH says diesel here is 138.9, and then 137.9 in Maidstone in Kent, both BP garages. Shocking prices for fuel ! We have one car, used to have two, no way can we afford to run two cars anymore.

24 Mar, 2011

We went to Morrisons today Yorkshire..it was a last minute decision,to go for a sandwich....or I would have contacted you,to see about having a coffee..Strangely enough,Russell filled up at the Meltham store last week, and it was £128.90.and I commented today that it was dearer now.Its appalling how they all seem to be getting away with it..Do they have some inside info, how much it is 'supposedly'going to be reduced by?.....its funny goings on to me..
By the way, like you,I bought plants. 2 Fuchsia's.. a trailing pink one, called Pink Galore,I got one from Lidl last year, but not sure if it has overwintered yet,but I liked it.The other is a red and white bush variety called Snowcap, which is supposed to be hardy, but I'm not convinced.Maybe someone will let me know ?.I might post a question.

24 Mar, 2011

I bought Fuchsia 'Snowcap' last July, Sandra, and it should be hardy. I'll take a look in the morning and see if it's ok. Actually, you've just reminded me of it, so I hope it's still alive! : o ))

24 Mar, 2011

Thanks Shirley..hope its good news..:o)

I was just listening to R4 talking about this selfsame thing-- all over the country small & large garages are doing the same either ignoring the budget or putting it up to take it off-- the suggestion from them is to boycott the worst offenders.....

25 Mar, 2011

George Osborne 'leaked' his intentions about fuel costs over a week ago (Radio 4). The companies took advantage to 'upp' it to maximise profits (when don't they)...
I listened, with wry amusement, to the suggestion that the oil industry will not pass on their tax hike to the consumer; "If they don't", said my wife, "That'll be a first!"

25 Mar, 2011

i know its a mad price, i use my wife car for work now because it saves us £20 aweek, her car 40 to 50 mpg, mine 25 to30, i think she liked the swop lol

25 Mar, 2011

25 Mar, 2011

25 Mar, 2011

Petrol is a rip off anyway. I haven't noticed the prices but they are way too too too high. - disgraceful !

I've seen that Niobe. It's lovely :)) I didn't buy it because I was being a good boy that day (which doesn't happen very often lol)

25 Mar, 2011

well i did forget the decimal point but it was £1.31

25 Mar, 2011

well to be honest yorkshire i couldnt tell anyone how much petrol is, why! because whatever it is and no matter how much we hate it, we have to get it so i dont even think about it lol as for the plants nice one ;o))

25 Mar, 2011

i paid 129.9 today at asda

25 Mar, 2011

asda near here hasnt got petrol.

25 Mar, 2011

does the current tesco offer of price matching asda apply to petrol?

25 Mar, 2011

I noticed yesterday, that Tesco had got in line with the others now.£1.29 down from £1.43...!

26 Mar, 2011

1.29 sounds better ~ trouble is i have to drive about 8 miles to get there!!

26 Mar, 2011

1.29 is better than all the high prices that I have seen on here, its still to much when you are pensioners and have to pay that amount, it now costs us about £80 to go down south, thats a lot of money,

26 Mar, 2011

it is a lot of money. if it goes up much more i shall just stay in ~ good thing there is GoY!!!

26 Mar, 2011

Hey Sticki, if it was'nt for my gammy leg I would buy a bike, Lol Oh must tell you my good news, I actually drove to the village an hour ago on my own, first time I have attempted driving in 2 months, I was well chuffed, when I pulled back in the drive OH was stood laughing and clapping me,

26 Mar, 2011

hey!! well done you!!!
thats really good news, you will feel so good at having done that. driving can be very daunting ~ my advise would be not to attempt anything too busy ~ just keep to the bits that are nice to drive to. have fun! OH wont be clapping so much if you use all the petrol tho!!

26 Mar, 2011

Oh thanks Sticki, I was really pleased with myself, will only venture a mile to the village for now, it was so nice as I did not have to ask OH to take me, anyway he was watching cricket on telly and I thought it would be nice for him to have a day off, I won't use to much petrol,

26 Mar, 2011

i dont find driving that easy so i know how you feel. but its really nice to be able to go out a little bit on your own.

26 Mar, 2011

I agree with you,

26 Mar, 2011

next journey the GC??

26 Mar, 2011

Well done,my dear..I can understand how nice it is for you,to not have to keep relying on OH,but I'm certain he doesn't mind :o) Just gives you your confidence back, which is great, and glad you felt well enough to give it a go ..keep it up..!!

26 Mar, 2011

thanks Bloomer, and yes I will keep it up.

26 Mar, 2011

You've done well to set off for the village on your own...it is not so easy to venture out on your own if you've been confined for a time. Really boosts your confidence when you challenge yourself, Yorks, to do what seems impossible or out of your comfort zone. Go for it...you at least shouldn't have to battle bad road conditions (such as we had in the winter).

Enjoy your new freedom, Yorks. :)

26 Mar, 2011

thanks Whiston, yes I really enjoyed making the effort, not going to drive to far at the moment though, just a little by little,
